| Quote: bulldogtrev "Keeping Leigh in the championship when they where relegated as per the rules of the competition is wrong.
Leigh should be relegated as per the rules of the competition but the rules should be changed at the end of the season for next seasons competition.
when a team finishing 9th in the Championship can be relegated and a team finishing 7th in Championship League 1 can be promoted the rugby league have got promotion and relegation wrong but that should have been sorted out before the season started.'"
When did the RFL ever play by the rules? They constantly moe the goal posts to suit themselves and any club that they want to protect.
I'd imagine Leigh getting relegated is bad business for the Championship and although its "the rules" I wouldn't put it past them to back Bramley and move the goal posts yet again.

Good business for Championship One, though. That said, the RFL always seem to look on the negative effects of those who are relegated etc, rather the benefits of those who replace them.

| With all due respect to whoever gets promoted but no club coming up to Ch 1 could command 500 - 750 travelling fans, a figure that Leigh would probably take on their travels with a winning team. The Chairmen of all the Champ 1 clubs will certainly miss that 'income' not counting the eats and drinks, but im not holding my breath and have started to program the sat nav for the Champ 1 grounds.

| I think we have all accepted we are relegated but when a national newspaper is printing reports to the contrary we are going to think there maybe an escape from it. We'll all have to wait and see. Until the fixtures are published we can all live in hope can't we?

| Not been made official yet.... I keep saying that.
I'm at peace with the fact that we may very well be down but there's always a chance we haven't been until I'm told otherwise.

Great thread this!!!
October to be good news month?
btw, didn't we finish rock bottom when Millward took over in 99/2000 ?
I don't recall us getting relegated then either!!
Deja Vu perhaps?

| I think if the aim was to just win the league then I could accept relegation easier. Its the fact the aim is to get into the playoff and finish in best position so you can progress etc. Looking at league table and us in 9th (3rd bottom doesn't sound good ), and we are just a win and a draw behind being in the playoffs, but because of size of the league and 20% of teams get relegated we find ourselves in relegation.
Imagine chasing euro spot in premier league and just missing out, and punishment being relegation.
Championship should be just 1 team going down out of 10 teams. Why no one queried this before season even started seems bizarre.
Also I don't think many fans of other clubs would begrudge us staying up considing circumstances of points tally and being 9th (:winkicon_smile.gif.

Why not though? 2 teams are definately going down as per rules we all knew. League season has finished, so absolutely no reason not to confirm.
Also note this "Leigh actually finished in eight place, above Toulouse, but the French club are exempt from relegation" from rlhererl. Things are looking better by the day.

| I'm more than resigned to relegation but can someone post a proper link confirming the 9th placed team will go down if Toulouse finish in a relegation spot?

www.therfl.co.uk/championship/ne ... p?id=13362
"The bottom two clubs in The Co-operative Championship at the end of the regular season will be relegated. The only exception is that Toulouse Olympique are exempt from relegation and therefore should Toulouse finish in either tenth or eleventh place then the club finishing ninth will be relegated in their place."

No we finished 9 th out of 11 , or 9 th out of 10 of the teams that can be relegated
