| Wellens is comparing apples and pears. Knowles got pinged for a hip drop tackle (like Nisbet) Asiata was cleared of tackling round the legs (launching himself head first at the legs).
This is bringing the game into disrepute - he is basically saying the disciplinary panel are wrong

| Dummies are still being spat out.
Asiata to be head-hunted on the 8th of September.
This will just rumble on and on as teams continue to not live up to past glories

With astute timing I found this recently posted highlights clip of Asiata at Cas
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhFZ2r2YjIU
I'm sure those with sand in their nethers can do an edit of his apparently appalling tackle technique, which has results in 100% of injuries to all on the receiving end, it's a miracle any teams who've faced him have any players left.

| As I have said previously, Jon Wilkin is too biased to be a pundit. He has been the one who started all this off and now Asiata is receiving death threats. Totally unacceptable. As Richard Silverwood has said, Saints forget some of there players technique. They have had players either sin binned or sent off in a good few games this season.

| Player Welfare, Wilkin? Death threats toward Asiata, your doing, Wilkin?
Yes he works for both SkY and the Beeb as, for a retired RL player, he is relatively telegenic. His bias towards Saints (despite him pathetically protesting otherwise) is acceptable for the first-named broadcaster which is a "shock jock" tabloid of a channel, but the BBC has a mandate of neutrality and therefore he should never be allowed to appear on there again.

| Delicious irony, with James Bell tackling with his head against Leeds tonight. Please explain that one away Wellens.

| He'll say that Bell learned it during his TWO games under Adrian Lam last season.
Whilst stating that there has been dialogue with the RFL in the interim (though he doesn't want to go into it further!) Wellens stands by what he said.
Maybe he should "USE HIS HEAD!"
Then again.....

| What do you expect? The league has said in no uncertain term there is nothing wrong with the tackle.

Yet Wellens has brought the game into disrepute by accusing the RFL failing to protect player welfare.
Now there are videos showing Stain players committing similar tackles in the game against Leeds.
HTH James.

| I'm sure Asiata will carry on regardless but it does put him and the refs in a bit of a bind. Some 23 or so matches into the season and suddenly one player is the focus because of one match, or rather the over reaction to the fall out of one match.
You can't change how you naturally* tackle, if you do then that means clearly you think there was something wrong with it, carry on with it and you will be scrutinising to within an inch of existence and the refs too will continually have flies buzzing around them after every attempt.
*I say naturally, in the nearly two season of watching John at Leigh I've never noticed anything wrong with it, it is the way of the tackle, sometime you go for the ball, sometimes the hips and sometimes the legs, all the while gauging who else is in the tackle and how the opponent is moving. Then you end up with posts like this, being overly analytical and removing the joy from the actual physical contest on the field.

| I think it just needs putting to bed now. There's nothing wrong with his tackling. He goes for the shins rather than the upper leg. It's not Asiata's fault that they are tall, heavy blokes who, when they fall, may land heavily on their knees. It's rugby not tick and pass.
