They need to do something radical if they are to keep the SKY contract. Staying at 12 teams and introducing a French derby between Catalans and Toulouse isn't going to do it on its own. I know the SL would not go for this suggestion because of their own selfish self-interests, but I would expand SL to 16 teams and The Champ to 20 teams, with 2 up 2 down and a top 8 play-off. I would also get rid of Rimmer from the RFL and allow any team that could sustain Academy and Reserves to do so. The Academy and Reserves are the lifeblood of all teams and to deny all teams this opportunity is turning young blood away from the game. These next 2 years should be spent on securing the roots of this game and all teams should use these next 2 years to ensure they have a sustainable future because SKY will probably pull the plug after this 2 year period.

Graham , I agree about Sky withdrawing their backing unless something radical happens , the trouble is I don’t think the RFL think the same way , SKY money is everything to the game , without it a Few clubs won’t survive .
Which is why I think Derek is so important to Leigh .I think our fate of relegation is obvious now ,and we need to act NOW, Derek must announce a Head of Rugby at once , and Haggerty offers nothing what we didn’t already have , so again he must be relieved of his post .I’m not sure what happens with the Aussies we have signed or Tompkins , hopefully stay as they are , we still have a decent following , and the Fans must be looked after .I await the views of Maurice , Monty , and Harry .?
