To answer the question. We dismantled a team capable of being top 4 championship when we did not need to, if we followed HKR, kept the nucleus of the squad offload a few older players and ones wanting too much cash and reserve some funds for the mid 8s to bring in a bit more quality for the final push as we did previously we would be in that top 4 now. Players like Riddy, AJ, McNally, Hopkins etc know how to negotiate this division.

We however chose to rip up the formula that had been successful in this division and just one game away from success in SL and follow KCs mantra of it is about recruitment and recruit players with good RL CVs... then players generally have not experience in the physical and differently refereed comp that is the championship. They also are not coming into a team with a set pattern of play as the players who set that pattern are mainly gone.

There is quality in the squad but it needs strong coaching to pull things together... the formula isn’t right yet and who knows how long it will take to get right, half back partnership needs sorting and wide defence, not easy fixes. Meanwhile champ clubs who we have spent the last 3 years hammering are now relishing an opportunity to get their own back.

All will take time to fix and if we don’t get top 4 were does that leave us going forward? Some tough months ahead, let’s stick together and support the boys and hope improvement comes sooner rather than too late. How about Hall to halfback with Lilley until Mortimer and Reynolds return?

FWIW I thought the ref had a poor game today. Failed to stamp his authority and came up with a fair few odd decisions. Probably evened up overall, but would have benefited the match to have more control over the game.

Come on Col, when you have watched this club for 'Donkeys years' and just been up to Halifax as I have and watched that debacle from one of the most expensively ever assembled Leigh teams ? Never have I seen a FT team so devoid of desire, passion or pride in our shirt.

Cold - at the moment if this carries on we are a very good bet for relegation. Are we getting an experienced coach? Is DB leaving? Why are the players going through the motions? The fans need to know exactly what is going on because a lot of these players aren't interested and that isn't fair on the paying fans. We need answers.

Top 4 in the Championship needs a minimum of 30 points and possibly 32 points. Over 23 games, that means losing (ignoring draws) 7 or possibly a maximum of 8 games. Leigh have already lost 5 games which means that they need to turn things round big style to make the top 4! Relegation - no chance, they may not be performing, but you have far too many (potentially) good players.

Something is 'not right' at the club. So we have signed some players who (so far) look quite ordinary, but to lose 5 out of the first 6 league games is pathetic.

I remember Halifax bearing is 66:6 in Rowleys first stint in charge. I was more gutted about that result than today’s.
