Recipie for disaster holding a player back who at least wants to see what's on offer. Especially to one of the big clubs, may risk losing him for nothing when contract ends and a not very motivated player in the mean time

His contract is too long for that... 2 years of uninterested play and he won't be getting the big boys chasing him when he's off contract.
Obviously leeds are 1 team chasing, whose the other?

Yes true, but can't be good for a dressing room. Not sure who the other team is. Think it would be difficult to hold a player back from any of the top teams. If a wakey came calling would be a lot easier as staying put at Leigh and you will end up potentially in the same league anyway.

| Just to let you know latest, Ryan has had two transfer requests rejected as leigh didn't let him speak to Leeds let alone reject an offer. They are not letting him join Leeds and he's not happy with it. He wants the move and to progress his future. An article regarding this will be in the evening post this week.

| My honest opinion is young Ryan is not ready for Super League. I think he is a couple of seasons off from that level so I dont think he is receiving good advice from the people around him either.
He has an eye for a gap, good pace and is able to support a break. A real poacher.
What he is not able to do as much as he should is control a game, dictate play and move us round the park consistently enough and has a tendency to go missing for large spells of a match, especially in the top games.Bare in mind good coaches whos job it is to spot potential in their clubs youngsters and secure it like Matterson and Milward were comfortable making a decision to move him on from Castleford.
He still needs to demonstrate he is a scrum half currently at the top of his game and able to make the transition from the championship to a top SL 7 and to do that , my view is he needs another year or two learning his craft in the championship. It is no good signing for Leeds and then being loaned out to Hunslet for the remainder of his contract.
It is time for the people around him to tell the young lad to knuckle down, honour the contract he signed with Leigh and turn himself into the top player we all know he can develop in to two years down the line.

Hopkins thought he was SL ready, he was not, neither is ryan. Stay and in 2 years fine, let him go

| What's the score with this kid? There has been rumours of SL clubs and big ones at that being turned down by Leigh or the player for the best part of two years now. No disrespect to Leigh or the Championship, but it can't be money that's keeping him at Leigh. Most SL clubs could pay off his entire contract, Leeds certainly could. He could probably quadruple his pay. Yet publicly he's never moaned once that I've seen.
What's going on with your finances these days? Are you heavily backed these days or under some form of fan-run consortium as was muted when you were going through the mire a few years back? I'm just struggling to see how any Championship club could turn down a reasonable offer from anyone these days?

So your saying Leeds could and would pay him £240k to £300k a year, excuse the bluntness but that's b0llocks

Absolutely rubbish, ryan hasn't asked for any transfer. The policy has and always will remain the same if a player wants to leave Leigh for a big club we won't stand in anybody's way and we will get the bet deal for Leigh.
Somebody at the Yorkshire post needs to start writing Enid Blyton stories!
