Four friendly games in a short space of time but no incentive for a prospective fan to have a cheap peek but ST holders get a loyalty bonus. Very poor.'"
Prospects being those who are unsure on whether or not to bother with a ST this year. Happy to be proven wrong and like I say I can understand Steve's argument.

| Lets take my case as an example then - I am currently debating whether to get a ST for next year as I know I will miss at least 3 and possibly up to 5 home games. Having just seen the offer for the friendlies, where I can attend all of them, this has just swung it back in favour of me getting a ST for next year.
So once I get paid this month I will be getting a ST and taking advantage of the ST deal for friendlies.
Without that 'incentive' of the deal for ST holders I would, more than likely, have kept my money and bought tickets to individual games - which could be influenced by the weather/illness/hangovers
With the tickets in my pockets through this deal I'll be going to every game that I can and the club has my money
In my case it's a great deal and has secured my financial commitment for 2014.
NB - before anyone else says it - Not all cases will be identical

That is the kind of thing I was thinking about. Last year when I was at uni a similar offer at Warrington would have led me to buy a ST at the start of the year rather than wait until May as I did for three years.

| Prices are on the Official website.
Re giving discounts to ST holders most of us go to games anways if we can.
There are obviously pros and cons but quite honestly imo wether folk come to games or not that will be down to how our players perform on the pitch.
P & R definately is back and I honestly think with the squad we have assembled we WILL be a team to fear this coming season.

| Exactly the right decision by the club (in my view!) - it's all about choices. Buy a season ticket and get the perks - or don't. I think people understand that absolutely anything on a pay-as-you-go basis, be it a phone, a magazine or a match ticket will be more expensive than on a subscription, contract or season ticket basis. What you are paying for is the flexibility and the cash flow advantage of spreading out the payments. If it were not so, what would be the point of not doing pay-as-you-go?
A classic case of damned if you do, damned if you don't and people like Starbug will always take the opposite view of what you decide to do, in part because they are just being awkward, as far as I can tell. And these people have to look hard to find something to moan about because what this board is doing is, in the main, some very fine work. Chips? Bags of potatoes more like it.

| Quote: Starbug "Last post on the subject to you GO
Leigh dont have a high nmber of ST holders, Leigh dont have a high number of fans
None of those highlighted benifits are futher discounted tickets to 1 st team games
Many people ( not current Leigh fans ) have just seen an essentially full LSV at the WC game, there are a couple of opportunities to replicate that atmosphere at these friendley games, the offers are very good, but I just cannot understand why you would deny 99% of your potential fan base the best financial deal to sample it again
Now if that makes me negative, or a chip on shoulder, or a glass half full person? , fair enough, no agenda's, no point scoring, just plain common sense
I hope to make 1 of them, not sure which one yet ,if they let me in, that is
Steve
We will have a higher number of season ticket holders for 2014 than in recent years and we want to reward these people for showing faith and a commitment to us surely you understand that.
Let's not be foolish enough to overlook two key facts here:
LSV was essentially full for WC game as it was a small part of a large event and part of a loss leader exercise in my opinion. Thousands of tickets were given away/ sold at next to nothing in order to fill the stadium and make out that international RL is alive and kicking. Yes it was great but fact is data collection will identify many of those who came were not even from the Wigan Borough and probably only came as it was free/cheap and was a one off chance to catch a once in a lifetime game in this town.
Leigh Centurions is a business and while we wish to significantly expand our supporter base and more to the point will do so! We can't afford cart blanch to fill the stadium (that's presuming we could anyway) with people who will only come because it's free and probably never come again once it's back at full price as well as pay all the associated costs that a full stadium brings it simply is not viable. These games represent a chance to show our squad we've invested in off and bring in valuble revenue which is needed to fund the club.
I'm surprised having sat in the Board Room and knowing how tight closed and pre season cash flow is we are even having this conversation.
At the end of the day for me It's about delivering a product worth paying for not giving away or devaluing our product and giving away much needed revenue.
We have to build gradually and will look at event days and games were we can run with some of the ideas you believe in but Leigh Centurions first and foremost is a business and needs to at least break even and if possible return a profit if it is to succeed. It has to wash its own face and short term needs to bring in cash to cover costs simple as that really like it or not, agree or not it's as clear as day and a matter of fact mate.
Our crowds will increase greatly this coming season and ST sales will be higher than last year, Rome wasn't built in a day be realistic and give the us a chance.
PS I'm always glad to see you and your always welcome pal.
Andy

Quick point of order, the RLWC made around AUS$5 million profit, so it would be wrong and a tad disrespectful to organisers to describe the competition as a loss leader. The only free tickets, as far as I am aware went to volunteers and children involved in the entertainment.

Ok mate.
I've no doubt the whole thing overall did as a full house at OT generates serious cash on its own but the loss leaders were strategically placed.
Off topic I suppose so won't go any further on that one, agree to disagree

| RLWC was a great success and made over £3m
On topic, the clubs first close season has allowed us to focus on season ticket sales which we believe had been all but ignored in recent years. Our strategy was designed to be all embracing giving people the choice by affordability, eg spread the cost, significant reductions on 2013 prices and a Free under 16 season ticket with every adult or concession sold.
To develop the strategy of asking our fans to invest in their club via a season ticket we will continue to add value and provide exclusive events throughout the year, we intend to make a Leigh Centurions Season Ticket a must have in future seasons, we will learn from this year and be even better at promoting them next year
I am a salesman and I fully understand you cannot please all people all the time, so must focus on motivating people to buy what you have when they are able to, be it a season ticket, shirt or a matchday ticket. As a salesman I also know that once you devalue your product it is very difficult to recover its real value, the Stobart SL deal is case in point, we will build our customer base by offering great value through a first class on field product and creating a brilliant matchday experience.
Enjoy the ride it will be great fun, and we wont fail through lack of effort.

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

I understand what your saying but I didn't read it as Andy showing disrespect to the organisers of the RLWC I felt he was rightly making the point that games like the one at the LSV are not a a fair comparison as professional RL clubs outside of SL with little/ next to no RFL funding can't afford to give tickets away or for next to nothing.
I've no idea what it costs our club to play at LSV but doubt it would be worth opening the doors for nothing or even £5.
We have to remember the club is a Ltd company with overheads, wage bills and tax bills to pay so it can't be an option to open the doors for nowt or even £5 not to mention the fact if you have a product you believe in you can't sell it for less than its worth.
PS I know 30+ people who went to the Tonga game and don't know anyone who actually paid for a ticket. I also attended England/ France FOC and went to hospitality at the Final FOC also.

Your doing a great job pal and our supporters should be eternally grateful that people like yourself, Beaumont and Mazey have stood up to the plate.
I think the ST deals and Friendless are value for money and can't wait for the 19th Jan now to see Spencer, Acton and Barlow knock the e out of the crust munchers
