I am sure no Leigh fan would ever begrude Hilly going to a Super League club. I certainly wouldn't. He burst onto the scene and ever since then has been totally focused the job in hand and been a consistent performer ever since he made his debut.

With the amount of talent we have at the club with players like Hill and Taylor who still have time on their side Millward could do wonders if he can recruit well in key positions and improve the younger ones in Mort, Stanton, Dollin etc. However, getting a good quaility stand off, hooker and loose isn't as easy as it sounds.

At the end of the day all our young lads have stepped upto the mark over the last 5 years. However they can't make a team when it is supplemented by journeymen on decent money.
The best strtegy Leigh could have is to invest in our young players and show them ambition.
Ambition is all well and good but you need to back it up with finance and proffessional acumen. The first part is done if all I have heard comes to fruition and people like Chris Hill will stay and benefit. What he and others will be concerned with though is the proffessionalism of the club and its directors and board members.
We really need to stay up this year and then get a grip of the club to take it to the next level. Learn from 2005 and look at Hull KR and we may just be smiling in 2012.

By whom? Surely not the coaching staff? I think Chris has developed his game through self determination and the will to succeed, but you can only get so far with that. Leigh should do the decent thing and release Chris from his contract, he has given his all to this club (97 first team games) and he should be allowed to progress his career elsewhere.

I dont think at this moment Chris wants to leave he just wants Leigh to do well, but he is a bit fed up at the moment.

Chris will be hopefully packing down with 2 great hookers and 3 other huge props in 2010

But dropping down will go to a £200K cap from £400K, won't existing contracts have to be re-negotiated?

We only spent 76k this year

If we did then one player is taking more than half of that!

Nobody would get £40k in our team surely

Only know our big signing to replace a gamebreaker/creator like Moran was a very brave winger/FB who had lost his pace.

I thought he was totally funded by LISA. If any of those players are on more than 20K for playing part time then there is something fundamentally wrong with the business side of the club.
I must admit to being ignorant to how much our players earn and what they do for the club to justify the wages. However I am now taking an interest and can't believe what I am hearing.
