No disrespect meant to Leigh but why would he sign for you now when you are not exactly setting the world on fire when he chose to sign for Fax a few years ago when Leigh, at the time, were a far better prospect?

Not aware that we approached him at any point whilst Rowley was still playing, but maybe the pull of his hometown club will be too strong?

Fax offered a better deal and don't judge Leigh on this season or last, medium term nothing between many clubs in this league,including Fax and Leigh.A few key signings or alternatively players moving on will make all the differance.

I wouldn't dream of judging Leigh on one season. As a Fax supporter, I know as well as anybody about the ups and downs of RL.

All I'm saying is that, at the moment, we're on an UP so I can't see what could possibly tempt Penky to leave Halifax other than A.) an offer from a SL club or B.) a substantially better offer from another Championship club (and it would have to be substantial as I couldn't see him going for a couple of grand).

As to the lure of playing for his hometown club, well, we as supporters are devoted to the club through thick and thin but very few players appear to feel the same way.

The BIG difference this time round is Rowley being the coach, Penky is his mate and i'm sure Rowles can talk him into joining his revolution

SOme players dont want to play for the hometown club as the fans turn on them like ours did with Radney

Your right and the message I have been given from people close to Penky in the past is that he has always been very happy living, working and socialising in Leigh,even going along to watch Leigh .. but to also enjoy playing his rugby 40 miles away from under the microscope that all together they would involve.
