| Getting back to Dixon, will we miss him?NO,not a bad player but not SL class, if we get promoted this season ,Dixon wouldn't have been offered a SL contract in my opinion,he knew this and decided to accept the Canadian Dollar, I don't blame, if we get promoted to SL then a few other players could leave as well.It was the same with Jonny Pownall, he wasn't going to move Higson, Dawson, or Brown on the wing so decided to join Toronto as well, for me all the players who have left Leigh to join Toronto, were not SL standard.I have faith in Jukesy and Derek to give us a very competetive team ready for SL next year should we get there .

Well I reckon Pownall was off long before Dawson and Brown were in the pipeline. Always rated him to be honest, but better people than me clearly thought different

Col, no doubt about Pownall leaving ,it's been rumoured for a while but never confirmed, the same as Beswick, and Worthington,I think Derek has known who has been set to leave which is why a few like Kay, and Pownall haven't played since, when you look at this seasons team ,and compare it to last season we have nearly had a complete overhaul.I admire Jukesy and Derek for not taking any sh&t..

| I know Greg Worthington is leaving, but where is yet to be announced regardless of speculation.
Derek thanked him at the awards evening for his efforts and professionalism.
I would like to send my thanks and wish me him luck and will be sorry to see him leave.
I reckon he still has a huge future in the game

| I could not agree more about Greg Worthington. He has been the best centre outside SL this year and is a young player I would have loved to have seen stay with us and develop his career further here at Leigh.

I think I read that the plan was for Toronto to be based in Bratfud and that they would only travel to Canada for 'home' games. Whilst it would make sense to stay there for their 'block of four', timing games for, say, Monday-Sunday-Saturday-Friday would keep in sync with the Rounds, avoid five day turn-arounds and, even allowing for a couple of initial days to kill the jet lag, see them in Canada for three week stints only - hardly the sort of cricket tours that beggared up Thorpe & Tresco.

| Something else occurs to me about this whole Canadian shenanigans; if teams like Batley only have a playing budget of £150K (M.E.N. recently) what are the budgets of the teams in League One? All those players will only be making tuppence 'a'penny from RL and having to hold down full time jobs. Whilst Toronto are, under the terms of the franchise, obliged to reimburse all the visiting oppositions' expenses, what about the lost time at work for the players? Even if you are expecting a tonking, it's not safe to fly across the Atlantic and play Rugby against pros without adjustment days. I know that it amounts to only one trip a year but it would probably see a week of your holiday allowance gone. Mrs Bongser for one would not be too impressed with that especially as it wouldn't result in a whole new outfit.
I think that Red Hall's pursuit of the expansionist dream is, as usual, dumping on the grass roots game.
As to the recruits from Leigh, I don't like the way that PR has ripped up the PR handbook, but if players are going because they see that they have been ousted from pole position by better ones, it only bodes well for Leythe. Wish them well if they want to pursue the Toronto SL dream but I'd advise them against believing any promises made by a certain man regarding their personal involvement there!

Harold I have acknowledged your info in the past,I'm not sure about Fui and where he is in mind of contracts but I have heard he has had an offer from Toulouse for next season.

BaB, with regards your last paragraph, I agree players see it as a Canadian adventure, with a few quid to be earned as well, I ant blame them and I feel we have replaced them with better players and if we get to SL I don't think Derek and Jukesy will let us down in terms of recruitment.

Wouldn't it be the same for a Challenge Cup game?

Moi Moi has trained the house down all year, to secure a final playing contract with Leigh for one more year. He has had a good season IMO.
I do believe he now has that offer on the table.

Fair point, Atomic, though for each semi-pro or amateur team, the chances of an away tie are reasonably slim.
