| 2006 NRC Cup Final when we absolutely battered the biggest club in the world - unexpected was not the word because the fans didn't back us that day in numbers. It was live on telly of course and looked great on TV. the week after same old crowd turned up against our bitter rivals Haven (a crowd puller in itself you would think). We played worse game ever that day but the punters wasn't to know that had they turned up.
Perfect example of our fickle fan base at the moment. Bread and butter crowds (weekly rounds of league games) are what is important not one off games that may not happen to be used as examples. Our weekly averages are not good enough now, and they was not good enough before "the draw bridge was lifted" either.
The fact we are expected to beat Dewsbury by the stayaways sums it up when trying to convince them to go and support us to get to the final. We don't have a given right to beat Dewsbury, just like we have found out so many times in recent past against similar opposition.

| We live in a much more dynamic world now. When I was a kid there was nothing else to do on a Saturday afternoon in Winter than go and watch Leigh. No TV to speak of and no computer games. We couldn't go anywhere we couldn't walk to so any other sporting event Man U or Bolton W etc. was out of the question. Now kids get driven everywhere, so for kids to go to Saints or Wigan is no more difficult than it is for them to get to the LSV. The only possible weapon we have is proce. If we can entice kids in with their parents cheap, it might just swing it. It's too late now for many of tyhe old fans to come back. To many have lost interest completely and are disillusioned by RL in general. Although they still watch SL in the pub.

So who goes into the schools? is it duffy and the community department?
we should send the like of RHP into school to do some of the talks and coaching (high schools more) Parents allow them to go with their mates and all that!
What about if the school can sell more than 50 season tickets, they get a free signed leyth shirt from this year or a coaching day for their P.E department

They have always had a huge dormant fan base that was waiting for them to match Hull FC , when have we ever been close to matching W1g4ns attendances ?
What did they draw early doors in 2007 , compared to us in 2005 ?
Not saying Im right , it is only my opinion , but to take 2,500 up to SL as a starting point would be disasterous , IMO of course

| Trying to get to kids through school is difficult. Kids are not the family decision makers and are notoriously bad at taking forms etc home from school. Try organising a school trip that involves kids taking home a form to get signed and bring back £3 deposit. Half get left at school, a quarter get left in their school bags and most of the rest get forgotten about or ignored by parents. Aiming at parents direct would be better if possible. Offer a good deal and plaster all over the town. Maybe offer exetreme concessions to unwaged and advertise this in the job centre, library etc. Also why not get some translated into Eastern European languages and try to attract the immigrants we have in Leigh. They may be interested and flattered if they see something in their own language..

.....and Tommy Sale can feed them with 7 loaves and fish !!!
Seriously that isn't a bad idea. Obviously wouldn't get 1200 but might get a good few. Have 2 schools in at the same time and have a competition to see how can get most in. School teams play as the curtain raiser.

| as an afterthought for Primary schools, the most popular time for any school trip is the gift shop were the kids can buy rubbish. Give pencils and other bits out as prizes.

You're getting the idea now arent you , you have the east stand as the family stand , no alcohol sales , you TELL EMC to put on a kids meal deal of Hotdog ,cone of chips and carton of pop for £ 2 , you invite enough to make up 1,200 for 4 games , thats 5,000 people through the turnstiles , for game 5 you offer all of them [ because you have all their details ] a family ticket for £ 15
Then you start again with another 4 games , and so on and so on ,
