At my age nothing much excites me, but the opportunity of being a small share holder in Leigh RLFC in return for a small donation into the club I have followed all my life is something I will anticipate with relish. It would also gain me a small sense of pride in 'My club'
I would also purchase an equal share for my young nephew in 'His hometown club''"
Good on you Harold and I will do the same for me and my kids. Nothing is perfect in life but at least there are people trying to make a difference and for that I applaud them.

We had shareholders before (since 1947) yet that didn't stop the club going broke in the 90's, I'm not against the idea just pointing out that one little fact, plus and I know this has been said but shareholders only get to vote directors to the board, not on how a company is ran, but I do agree a major change is needed. Bye Bye.'"
I think we are all aware Fred that I/we as fans and shareholders will not be running the club but will be able to [ielect [/i a B.O.D to run it on our behalf and it is they who will then make all the decisions on our behalf but I will still have the sense of ownership and a small voice in the appointments.
Something to think about.
I / we had no say in the appointment of Mr Barton, Mr Freer and Mr Coffey to run our club. Admittedly they did do a sterling job in putting the club in a position to continue trading but as Mr Barton proved by coming to a LISA meeting appealing for more of the supporters cash, they are really struggling massively at the moment. A new model is now required.
Anyway , thanks for the snippet of wisdom. I respect your opinions as a true supporter so I will eagerly anticipate your next post

| To be anywhere near successful then we'd need 500 fans commiting to tipping up £20 a month for a guaranteed minimum length of time, on top of everything else they pay for.
That puts us in a much firmer position and opens up other doors.
Achievable?

You missed the second little fact - they get to vote them off as well.
Also shareholders get a copy of the accounts, no skeletons then.

We need £100k a year as contingency, a fan/local business partnership should be achievable with the obstacles removed, we can then focus on income streams

| I had to reply on that one Mo, a 'rouge' director can do a lot of damage in 12 months, the Blackpool Mafia and a certain ex Leigh bookie and shops owner spring to mind, but like I said I'm not against the idea and have already pm'd Andy and spoke to another potential investor on the subject, if you remember I didn't rejoin LISA because I was awaiting a supporters trust a few years ago.
Thanks for that Pat but too many snipers, no name keyboard warriors and negativity for my taste these days.
Again Bye Bye (I will have made as many comebacks as Starbug if I go on )

| Create £10m of shares available in £100 lumps, look for £50k pa from business - 10x5, 5x10 doesnt matter - look for £50k from fans by both £x per month into a share account/trust or buying/getting bought £100 lumps as and when
Other suggestions:
1. Tie the LSV down and go public on exactly what the deal is
2. Move corporate to Park Inn if the LSV deal is poop
3. Buy a pub in town, running the shop and back office from it - plenty for sale - call it the Real Centurion and make it family friendly on matchdays/afternoons. Giving the club a focal point in town.

I think if you was to ask for that much money every year then you've got no chance of ever increasing the number of shareholders. Which, 'imo, would mean you've got no chance of ever connecting with the wider community.

| In reply to Alex's Dad, 500 loyal fans at 20 pounds per month, over say three years is achievable.
As for The Captain's comments, I believe this would have to be over and above LISA and Touchdown Club payments as these are already accounted for in the present budgeting.Surely we have 500 loyal fans who wish to see Leigh Centurions continue into the future of professional rugby within our town.
I for one would be willing to take on the mantle of organising any such project, or overseeing the project if anyone else is willing to start the ball rolling.
I have supported our club through thick and thin for many years, and personally am not prepared to see it sink any deeper into the abyss.
All you posters on this forum, please get in touch with the club officials and offer to help in some way, this is not something that can be sorted by any one person, we relied on Mr Thomas for far to long in my opinion, so lets all stop sniping on here and back anyone who is willing to get in and get their hands dirty.
Thank you.

Totally agree with you. The challenge is raising £100k every year

Other suggestions
I don't believe by threatening Wigan council with going public over the deal would help. They don't just have to think of the 1500 leigh fans they have to think of the 50,000 people in leigh + the 200,000 (guess) people in Wigan who don't give a stuff if leigh rugby ceases to exist.
Agree re moving corporate to park inn, however probably not as good as sponsors have to walk from hotel to stadium (in rain) and sit outside then walk back (in rain) at full time. Blokes probably not too bothered but wags if wearing heels wouldn't be too impressed
Buying a pubis another good idea however were would the money come from or who would guarantee the overdraft
