| No complaints about the result but this was an awful game of Rugby League which should have all present today asking for a refund--it really was that bad.
I was that bored with 10mins to go that I was hoping Leigh would score to make it an exciting end to a miserable game. To their credit they did, and sensed a victory could be taken. For that alone a Leigh win was deserved.

Honesty unbecoming of many opposition fans when talking about a disappointing result.
I'm sure you were gutted but the post will be appreciated by all Leythers. I can't comment on the standard of rugby played but from the sounds of it the merry whistle blower didn't help.

The ref was fair to both sides--I'm afraid the discipline at times was poor and its up to the players to not incur the wrath of the ref--both sets of players failed miserably.
The ref had no outcome on the result and whilst he didnt have a great game he was better than the two teams!!!!

| Great win away for the Leythers , makes the low score sound like it was more of an arm wrestle today (will have 2 watch the dvd and see for myself). Would have loved to have been there but was bloody working again

Despite us snatching a totally unexpected victory, I have to agree with you. You could say that both defences were good, or you could argue that neither side possessed the ingenuity to break down the other! Really, I didn't think Leigh looked like winning it, until the final two minutes. (obviously our new game plan, to lull the opposition to sleep, and then sneak one in the final minute!)
The plus points for Leigh were our defence, we stuck it out well over 80 minutes, against a full-time team, and once again we overcame Ronnie Laughton's 'eccentricities and inconsistencies'!

| Well what can i say the REF ruined what would have been a good game of RL between two very poor sides ..If this club want to get fans coming in to watch RL at the Sporting Village they are gonna have to bring in a couple of experienced top pros even tho we won it was a terrible game to watch ruined by that idiot in the middle we had many chances to score but did,nt have the know how , how to break the line to score we are shouting out for a half back and centre , Marsh was very poor and looked really unfit
the forwards just walked into the tackle some last ditch defence from Leigh was outstanding but to be honest it looks a poor team coached badly
with not one player who stands out SLOW SLUGGISH & IDEALESS
JUST ABOUT SUMS THIS PRESENT TEAM UP!
YES A WIN BUT WIDNES ARE BAAAAAAADDDDDDDD
AND THE REF LIKE ALL REFS IN THIS DIV ARE SHOCKING SPOILING
THE GAMES WITH CONSTANT BLOWING UP FOR MINOR OFFENCES
THEY SHOULD TAKE A LEAF FROM THE AUSSIE REFS TAKE THE TEAMS BACK AT LEAST 12 MTRS AND LET THEM PLAY RUGBY AND KEEP THE WHISTLE OUT OF THERE GOBS !!!

| Our defence was as solid as I have seen it for a good while, the referee was an embarassment to the whislte, Webster is a complete waste of money and very disapointing, TKL is a moneygrabbing workshy tart who didnt fancy getting slapped by our honest lads, Chris Hills 78th minute tackle was the best thing I have seen in for maybe 2 years, and winning it in the last minute whilst sat among Widnes fans was quite good fun.
And the Stella in Widnes Weatherspoons is quite good too.

| Although there were a ton of errors from both sides, I thought they both showed great defence in equal measure - Chris Hill giving Paddy Flynn a headstart before tackling him in to touch was a joy to behold; Phil Kinsella was singing Hill's praises as a potential SL player on Radio Manc - hope Smith and the likes weren't listening!
A sweet, sweet win. Hill played a huge part in Donlan's try with a lovely little pass out the back after holding the ball long enough to draw the man, while Durbin was lightning at dummy half at times. Huge stint from an unfit Armistead as well.
Hardly champagne rugby, but an enjoyable afternoon all the same.
