Iggy you only have to read the posts of opposition Clubs to understand how their fans are ready to pick up and exaggerate the smallest of negatives, everything at Leigh is going well yet you have some opposition Fans creaming themselves in anticipation things are going to go wrong at Leigh.I have every faith in Derek and the BOM ,they are not idiots,it's a case of We Are Leigh, nobody likes us, but I don't care, enjoy the ride this season, it's going to be great, I can't wait.As far as other Clubs are concerned, Jealousy is one of the 7 Deadly Sins,get over it.

So what was Paul's intention with his reported comments. He said there was going to be no further comment in private or public. Seems he lied

you are correct, that is what he said. All his comments will do will ne to reignite the rumours and half truths. He should either do what he said he would do, ie say nothing. Or tell us the full truth.

Earlier in the thread I made a comment that both parties using the line of ‘personal reasons’ at some point needed to expand on it, seems Paul has done that but I do agree stop the 'smoking gun' type comments and say what it is!
In saying that I’m pleased there is nothing wrong with Paul or his family, with these comments I presume he’s also alerting clubs he is available.
The downside to this is that it looks like if second guessing (and everyone is) Head coach had a disagreement about perhaps player recruitment and player selection, it may have been minor it may have been major, Paul is his own man and I suspect it was his team or no team and both parties seem to have gone separate ways.
Regarding the Cap comments others have made I’m led to believe it was raised and can be checked by the RFL at any time so I have no fears on that, our gates have gone up consistently and the money we get compared to what we used to is significant however what I would say is its clear Derek has a lot of input on financial matters in terms of putting his hand in his pocket to buy players, I’ve no problem with that whatsoever so long as if we run at a loss for whatever reason we aren’t left with any debt.
Michael Norris is the chairmen and from when he started he pledged that he wouldn’t allow spending that would endanger our club long term whilst we pursued short term goals, whilst Derek's salesman background and larger than life character will always see him in the papers trying to promote our club I think Michaels occasional reassurance the club is on track and doing fine would quell a few nerves.
In fact my only concern this season is the age of the squad, as with no reserves I think we really do need to get a youth structure in place as we are now a buying club, having said that Derek has stated on more than one occasion that he intends to rectify that sooner rather than later.

In terms of where this leaves our club well personally I don’t think it effects anything on the field at all, the squad looks in good spirits and good shape with a good coaching team and personally the drama has added to the start of the season excitement, it will be really tough as every team will be looking at beating Leigh (especially the Yorkshire clubs who all hold firm together)but we have the team on & off the field to see our club progress.

Just read the article on one of the RL sites and I find myself questioning should he have left it as it was or, as he has done almost forced the club to stop what is likely to fester until the reasons are stated. We are going to take enough of the proverbial this season as it is, so why not put it out there now otherwise the pressure and distraction it will put on the club could bring everything tumbling down. IMO Paul wants the reasons out based on what he has said, and the press and the RFL and others will be all over the club until it is put to bed good bad or indifferent

DB evidently wants to promote AB Sundecks via the Leigh Centurions vehicle, getting more exposure in Super League and this could work in synergy for AB and Leigh Centurions as 2 separate businesses with 1 effectively funding the other. No problem with that as it's important both businesses flourish. Has this aggressive businesses model got in the way, and forced players such as Sarsfield to leave which I for one thought was a strange decision. And/or could it be related to DB being somewhat in cahoots with Mr. Salford now? Are they doing some deals without the coaches knowing about it?

Rowley might have morals but what an opportunity this year would have been to bolster his CV, and I think most Leigh fans would have loved to have seen him take this opportunity of progressing the club further. Maybe a bit of self-sabotage or doubt there as well, not thinking he deserves the squad and/or believing he can get Leigh promoted? Surely he's paid to do a job, so he should get on with it, you can't always agree with the boss as I'm sure many have experienced?

Hasn't taken long though for him to start speaking. Has he made the right decision? He also put a lot of other people's jobs at risk, which luckily DB has temporarily prevented. And you could say if he wasn't happy last year, why bail out now after selling this years dream to the fans, maybe he should have jumped earlier?

Rowley going may have afforded Lee Smith's contract, so maybe a blessing in disguise?

Up until Paul Rowley's Radio 5 Live interview comments/quotes, as highlighted by Jenky initially & a few others since, I have been really happy with everything going on at Leigh.

The increased cap that was brokered by DB with the RFL seemed to cover the signings at least up to & including Rangi.

The income of the Club through the turnstile is double that of 2 or 3 seasons ago & likely close to par with Salford & Wakefield, so no issues there.

DB himself has deposited a sum of money to cover costs & prove financial viability for the Club, all good.

Now, I have never questioned the dealings of the club, apart from when the players were going unpaid & collection buckets were going round the LSV to help pay the money owed to the players a few years back.

Everything just seemed so 'right'.

Now, with these new comments by PR, I am genuinely worried about what is going on at Leigh.
I knew in my heart of hearts that PR just resigning like that with only 10 days to Kick Off was bad, very, very bad.

I hope that this is the lesser of all evils & that it is simply a case of DB getting too involved/pushy in terms of player recruitment.
Maybe Paul didn't want Rangi ? Or, maybe the signing of Lee Smith was against his wishes & an interference too far from DB that PR couldn't accept.
This is for me the best case scenario.

Should we/Leigh have spent over the cap by using technical loopholes that are not punishable, then not so good.

Should we/Leigh have deliberately contravened the cap & be liable to punishment by way of points deductions & therefore forfeiture of a SL place *should we/Leigh achieve promotion* then it could put the club back 20 years.

Let's not lose sight of the fact when opposition fans are stirring though, it was Marwan Koukash who first said he would break the cap at Salford & it is widely rumoured that he ran 2 paying accounts for players, *someone has suggested this on here about Leigh*

didn't Wigan deliberately break the cap by c £250k in an effort to avoid relegation & went largely unpunished by the RFL.

I haven't heard the rumours as to exactly why PR left, but I am now genuinely concerned & feel that this needs to be sorted out fast & permanently.
