| But its ok because it will save SL clubs a bit of cash......a***wipes
Having said that the champ clubs will have better youth development than SL clubs so thats one criteria up on SL clubs....oh what was that they secretly voted to change the criteria?

| When Leigh haven't been playing I have been watching Swinton this season.
Next season if this ridiculous idea is implemented I won't. Why pay Championship prices to watch a Superleague's reserve side masquerading as Swinton ?
This is wrong and Swinton sadly will suffer for it' as will any other Championship club going down this path.
I like to see both sides of an argument to mull over the pros and cons. For the life of me however I cannot see any sense at all in this initiative.
Wonder who came up with this idea ?

| Just had a brilliant idea. All clubs entering into one of these feeder club arrangements be placed in a separate league entitled the 'No ambition No Identity' Championship. There is no place for them in a competitive league.
I think the idea to deprive these clubs of income from our away following is a good one

| I feel sorry for Championship sides, and the attendances I feel will not increase much, due to the way the game is run.

| Should mean that W***n have to turn out a stronger team, if they come down for a pre-season friendly next season.

| I'm trying to see where the paranoia has come from here.
So Swinton have entered into an exclusive deal with Wire - good for them IMHO, it's going to do the Lions (Please note, contrary to the title of the thread, they are not changing their name) a world of good on the playing field which, as many posters on here keep reminding us, is where the important part of the game is. Not in the board rooms, not on the terraces, not at the top, but on the pitch.
I'm not convinced that tying yourself to one team for loans is a good thing long term, but we don't know it's long term, do we? There isn't any proof of this suggestion, and history shows that these agreements tend to be for a season or so. We'll see on that one though, but at the moment there is nothing that I can see that suggests that Swinton will become some sort of feeder club - why would they, they've not exactly sparkled when it comes to recruiting for themselves, why should they suddenly improve when they agree to this?
Yes, it will have the slightly detrimental effect of limiting the access to playing the game by some Swinton fringe players. Surely it is more important that the better players in the game get game time, if only to improve the showcase level of the sport, and hopefully the future of our international side.
I appreciate that is going to get me more grief for apparently being an SL ar$rekisser, but if that's the best you've got as an argument, then crack on lads...
Fans of our sport are fond of drawing comparisons with other sports, something I've never been a fan of, but on this occasion I'd like to ask if our football watching fans could tell me where the soccer loan system has damaged that game. You'll not be able to, you know as well as I that it's been an established part of the game for many years. Granted, the d/r system isn't as straight forward as that, but in effect it is the same agreement. If a lower division football team borrows a player, they pay his wages don't they?
From here, this whole thread looks like an excuse to sneer and make snide little comments and to boringly repeat the same imaginationless insults to SL that crop up on every thread like this.

| icon_smile.gif Its such a good system scooter that the top 5 championship sides have made their position fairly clear. So you would go with leigh fielding 10 players that weren't ours. Oh by the way the thread title was tongue cheek and since when has realism doubled as paranoia.
Am unsurprised at your response as you have realised that the money saved by SL clubs ditching player development will keep a few of your beloved licensed SL teams from going to the wall for maybe one more year.

| Surely, Scooter, the heart of the problem is doing away with the under 20's and under 18's, which is what we should be encouraging, not losing. This is where the next generation of players should be coming from. If all the reserve numbers at SL clubs are just going to play in the Championship, where is the ambition and desire for our younger players, outside this sphere, to come from? Languishing in the North West Counties? I think not. Just another nail in the coffin.

Can’t say if it’s the norm, but a couple of seasons back when the nephew went on loan from Blackburn to Oldham, he was still being paid by Blackburn.

| No 10 clearly isn't and that's how it will end up. But i'll gladly sit back now and watch these clubs slowly disappear but in the meantime they can be pleased with themselves for reducing development costs for the SL clubs. I mean they only get 20x the income of a championship club.

| So what figure would you be happy with? My opinion is that if you agree to one DR then you may as well agree to 13.

| Ridiculous statement imo. All i will say is i am just about happy with max of 4, which we haven't used this year i don't think. They also couldn't all be from one club. This is only my opinion by the way but if you go past 8 you then become a different club. Ie Wire reserves with a few from swinton on loan.

| Still don't get why you think 4 is an acceptable limit but 3 or 5 aren't?

| WTF are you talking about at all. Right I'll try and express my already expressed views in single terms for you. UP TO 4 LOAN PLAYERS IS JUST ABOUT ACCEPTABLE and i think that figure has been in place for years. Nothing more to say so don't bother with any more stupid questions.
