| Quote moxi1="moxi1"You mean that club that's never in their history finished bottom of SL, the one that's been through the 8s and survived before, the one that is guaranteed a franchise when they undoubtedly come around again. Fishing isn't your game, instead, stick to not posting at all.
Unlucky Leigh. Though it will be of no comfort, Widnes shoulda gone for finishing bottom, but for this farcical system, that's not the case.'"
Had it been a different system, Widnes may not have finished bottom. Unfortunately, today's result confirms Leigh as the weakest team in SL and they have paid the price in losing their SL status. Both Widnes and Catalans beat Leigh convincingly multiple times this season and both justified their right to SL status in the qualifiers. Leigh was simply not good enough when it mattered - today's performance said it all.

| As a HKR fan I can only offer my massive commiserations, being honest, I wanted Catalans to win but it's such a horrible, stupid and negative idea that the RFL have come up with.
The MPG is akin to bear baiting of fans of clubs.
You didn't finish bottom, you shouldn't have been relegated.
Good luck in bouncing back.

| Just as Sandro said. It makes no difference which of the two teams you prefer this middle 8 concept is nothing more than a nightmare for every club involved. To come on here gloating shows a serious lack of empathy and class, especially after going through that pain ourselves. Good luck for next season guys. It isn't going to be easy but we have shown it can be done.

| I don't get it....The majority of fans are of the opinion that Catalans MUST survive in Superleague for the benefit of the expansionism in the game. I don't agree. It's reported they brought a massive 50 supporters with them today which considering it was probably the biggest game they have played in their short history it was very poor indeed. I'm a Warrington fan and would much prefer to see 4,000 Laythers in the west stand at the HJ than a few bedraggled French people....If you asked the same question to club chairmen they would agree I'm sure....They daren't say so for fear of being called Luddites.

But as a fan, would you rather have a weekend away in the south of France or an afternoon in Leigh. Still don't agree with the concept and think if the players are there for additional teams just expand the league.

| We were very poor in the final 30 minutes of the game. We deserved to lose and once again poor discipline cost us. Injuries and poor discipline have let us down throughout the season and this game turned into a game too far for some of our players.
Discipline is something that needs attention from this point onwards.
Good luck to Catalans in SL 2018.

| Quote Woody="Woody"Joking aside tough way to go down and hate the concept. Bottom of league team should be relegated end of. Middle eights for a supporter of any of teams involved is not pleasant.'"
Without the concept, the season would be longer than 23 rounds, and ultimately it's who finishes 12th (ie, when you consider there are 11 teams above the MPG) and 13th after 30 rounds. Leigh would have been relegated after a 30 round season anyway. It gives the relegated team a second chance.
I do think they should go to bottom 6 and top 2 of Championship, as too many lightweight sides in there, but maybe have it as pure relegation for the bottom two rather than the stress of it all one game.
I do think the clubs should think of it as a second chance to avoid what they have already achieved, the relegation spot, rather than the current ethos, but hope it goes okay next year. Personally, I can see you swapping with Salford with Marwan's money going.

| Without wishing to sound condescending I think Leigh should take a good look at how we, Hull Kr, reacted after the MPG last year. You have a passionate chairman and a good support base. Use this opportunity to reshape the club and come back stronger. We have shown it is possible, good luck for next season.

| Only the fans and clubs involved in this game know how truly horrible this is. It's not like football, the whole league structure isn't full time. To decide things on one game and then literally have people unemployed on the outcome is crazy. I experienced it last year so know how you feel. I also thought that was us done for super league but we've also proved you can get back!

| The title of this thread say's it all.
Before anyone starts coming on here having their 2 penneth worth. YES, We are not good enough for SL, so what happens now is that we have to regather and put ourselves in a position so that we can bounce back and prove that we CAN/WILL challenge for a spot at the top table. Can we? Time will tell.

I'm not sure it's as simple as that. But it changes nothing now the dust settles. Leigh hammered Cats away. But today's performance was similar to the Widnes game in that as a neutral I was left scratching my head how a team can be so good one week then look clueless week after? The foundations at Leigh are strong and they will be back, that's my last comment on here til next term . Good luck lads
