| AJM, no contest. Best Leigh coach ever. One of two Cup wins, one of two league titles, two Lanacashire cups, record season in Div 2.
Behind AJM...??
Joe Egan
Steve Simms
Ian Millward
Tommy Grainey
On achievements in recent years (i.e. promotion) Darren Abram.
Pete Smethurst for that win at home to Leeds in his last game
-
Worst ever...
Jim Crellin
Tommy Dickens

Murphy never did the season in Div 2, he may have started it but then left us for St Helens!

Would have to check but I think you're wrong on that, Ste... if he did go it was right at the end of the season... seem to remember AJM was Lancashire coach that winter, too... we travelled to watch the Roses game at Watersheddings but it was called off as the pitch was frozen.
I do remember him signing Steve 'Hollywood' Halliwell for Saints in the close season, and Tony Cottrell flattening the bugger in the first minute of the first league match, as he'd broken the backline's agreement to share the cash for finishing top try scorer. I also remember him ending up on 49 tries, despite going under the sticks when the ref blew up with the ball still in play in the final minut eof the last league game (think it was against Donny, but again would have to check).

Id agree with most of the above mate just seem to think Alex left early doors that season and Tommy Dickens led the record breaking team to promotion!!
Over to the Parkies for confirmation, come on lads??

| Must be Murphy as he won things
As for Halliwell I thought it was John Westhead who actually flattened him whilst most eyes were on Tony

| I was at the game and can honestly say that John Westhead got to him first although Tony seemed to take the credit.
Top coaches
1. AJM
2. Millward
3. Simms
4. Terzis - although I didnt think so at the time
5. Benson - liked the way we played under Benson - Best game we played for years away to Widnes in NRC (if it was called that at the time) under Benson - Gave the so called superstars a good tonking that day

| I think Murph left at the start of the season around October, Tommy Dickens took over and the rest is history.
It was Tony who 'caught' Halliwell as it was Phil Johnson who kicked off to him on Tonys 'orders' (not being a know-it-all before some miserable git points his slimey finger the story was told to me by Johhno himself)

| I talk to Tommy Dickens a couple of times a week ,he still has a great fondness for the club , as does his brother Martin, good coach Tommy, but ALEX the KING, worst coach Dazzler Darren, his LISA meeting talks were Legendary.what a personality?

| If you judge off trophies then it has to be AJM. Challenge cup, League Championship and Lancashire Cup wins. The only coach to win any major trophies here in the last 50 years. I think Basil is held in high regard for turning the club around in such a short time but he never finished what he started. Turks should have won more than he did and failed to get us into SL in that season when we walked the league by 9 points. Abram got us up but was not backed by the board and stood no chance with the calibre of player we had that season.
