| Quote: DETROITSOUL "That's easy to answer.. The greedy SL Clubs don't want to share the SKY money across the board that's why they will fight tooth n nail against a return to prom and relegation and the thought of two SL League would be a none starter to the greedy
Incorrect.
Sky don't want two divisions otherwise there would already be two divisions. If we return to P/R as it stands it would be even more farcical than the last time you were in SL.

| How would it be farcial, there would be a full time club getting promoted and a full time team getting relgated, no need to panic buy and no need to assemble a brand new squad of players; hence making it less farticle and more competative.....

| Did that contribute to the thread in anyway whatsoever? No, SL highlights that there isn't yet the player pathways established so why would we load another ten clubs with the same problem

Over 50 years of pain, pleasure, frustration, joy, heartache and ecstasy that supporting Leigh has given me but I would not swop it.: |
|
| You Dico are a typcal SL fan who really does not see the big picture, without clubs like Leigh,Fax,Fev etc the pathway you mention will not have a start point as a massive amount of SL players come from these areas,No local team and interest dies off as it is doing now to a great extent.
All fans without a rich benefactor like Warrington have is a chance to sit on the top table and as it is at present this is a very very slim chance.
To say Leighs season in SL was farcical is totaly disrespectful and not fair,Widnes have had loads more time than Leigh to prepare and look at them, they only beat Wigan because they sent a team full of reserves.Just watch all the teams threatened with relegation start promising the earth and buying in players to try and survive the Franchise allocation, this to me is whats farcial.

| On your first point I think you'll find that teams like Miners and Easts would continue regardless of whether the centurions were there or not. Plenty of development areas are producing players without the need of a semi pro club. The amateur game produces far, far more players than Leigh or whoever and in all honesty you just pinch them from amateur clubs like we do

| SL clubs want teams like Leigh etc to stay were they are so we can develop their players for them........players who Leigh have helped develop - Hargreaves,Prescott,Evans,Blythe,McCarthy,Mitchell,Spencer......... the list goes on.
They don't want a drop in SKY money (IMO the money should be split equally between all 3 divisions) even though they get more through sponsorship and marketing. Its the old saying - the rich get richer and sod the rest.

But kill the clubs in the heartland and it must have a massive detrimental effect on the game, for a start off where do you loan out your young up and coming players to get experiance of a higher level than reserve rugby, everyone who came to Leigh has improved immensly.
The current SL makeup is not working for the general good of the game with only the clubs in SL backing it but RL is not just SL, Sky money after all only keeps players wages at a competitive level but really does not improve RL as a whole.Viewing figures are down, challenge cup attendances way down and we are farther away from beating Australia than ever.
Take off you blinkers mate the game is not getting better at any level and something needs to be done sooner than later.

That is true, well run Amateur clubs are thriving all over the country, many without a local pro or semipro team.

And that provides the answer to a point someone raised. The S/L teams would, of course send out D/C players to East, Miners etc. to give them the necessary experience to be ready to take the next step up into S/L.
