If we know the names of our best players who have signed for other clubs why do we not know the names of the players who will replace them in the recruitment of a squad capable of winning promotion? I hope it is not the case that we have left recruitment too late again to compete for the best available players. The lack of available talent was used as a reason for the lack of quality this season. Also why leave it so late to name the new coach who will need time to plan pre- season and assess the quality of the squad in order to hit the ground running at the start of next season. The fans need some positive news to hang on to.

Nothing gives any semblance of an organisation that remotely knows what it is doing at Leigh Centurions, if Joe Mellor and Ben Reynolds nice guys and 100% triers as they are the player's to build our team around - presumably being the first signings they must be - then heaven help us. So who is it that has signed these player's on for next season, who is the Rugby Manager that has advised the Leigh owner these are the player's the coach (whoever he will be) that these guy's fit snuggly into his game plans, stratergies and tactics for next season?
That lack of positve news you mention J7P, will go a long way to turning fans away, they will be suffering from Chronic Disillusionment.

Quote: Harry Stottle "Hang on a mo Cokey, Mr Beaumont wants Leigh to remain in SL this coming term and if the SL council do not let him do so, he is going to take legal advise as to whether it is worth challenging in a court of law, he told that to anyone on Radio Manchester last Sunday who cared to listen, let's for one minute imagine he gets his way and we remain in SL who at this stage of the season are we going to recruit to play in SL, as sorry as a lot of our performances were this season I will point you in the direction of Bachman Turner Overdrive and their song " You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet" it would be catastrophic.'"

Slow down Harry, we don't know what's going on behind the scenes, and i think Degsey is planning ahead. I agree we can't magic up a Superleague squad if we keep our place in SL , and yes we will find ourselves in the same kind of position we've just been in ( yes i know it's not good for the fans) scrambling for a win or two but, we will end up getting full funding, and maybe Marwan may come on board. If we end up getting relegated to SL-2 (10 teams) for 2023, we should get a parachute payment, and then hopefully be in an healthy position to compete strongly enough in SL-2 to get back SL-1 in 2024 . Then again i could be miles out. icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif

Anyone heard anything about players being retained or new signings. Don’t want to go through 2022 with only 2 wins! So we will need a squad. Is Haggerty retained as coach? Any rumours?

D.B has said (on GMR) that there was a Head Coach, that person has now reneged/withdrawn on an agreement & so now he will have to decide whether to stick with Haggerty or start a new search fir Head Coach.

I don't know why the *New Coach* would withdraw, a lack of confidence in Leigh as a club, advised against it by someone ? Lost confidence in D.B ? Doesn't want to coach at Championship level ? Had a better offer ? Any one or combination of these I guess.

Quote: Cokey "Ste, Haggerty won't stay mate. DB will get rid of him.'"

As always mate, I have zero inside knowledge which might/might not be a good thing so I just don't know past what D.B has openly stated. In fact maybe you & others could pass an eye over these highly contentious rumours ?

1. A now retired ex Leigh player punched John Duffy *allegedly*
2. 2 now retired ex Leigh players were refusing to play *allegedly*
3. Neil Jukes is unofficially responsible for recruitment of playing squad with direct input from the owner *allegedly* , important to stress that I have nothing against the owner.
4. D.B was refusing to pay the return air fare of one of our Aussie imports *allegedly Brendan Elliot* & that the team *allegedly* had threatened the club/owner with a strike & refusal to take the field at Magic Weekend if not resolved. !
5. D.B has suggested that he will consult with his lawyers over the possibility of sueing S.L/RFL which is Fact, however I read (probably on this site) that a member S.L Club cannot sue other S.L Clubs/the RFL as a condition of membership *allegedly* , I would think that in itself could be legally challenged !
6. D.B offered Shaun Wane £250k to see out the season at Leigh *when Duffy resigned* but Wane declined due to his England commitments & a possible return to Wigan as D.O.R !

All of these are rumours I have seen or heard either here on this site, from a guest in an Executive box, or on the terrace etc & all AFAIK have varying degrees of truth or absurdity !

Interested to have any of these *rumours* put to bed but equally if any have real substance could point to why Leigh is such a troubled club recently.

Dont think thats quite the tune ! but know what you are getting at

A look at last weeks champ fixtures found just about all teams involved had at least 1 ex leyther in its ranks.
Do we expect to be full time next year hopefully, probably. How many other full time squads will we see 1 maybe 2.
Most full time players must come from SL who I believe will have smaller squads just down to finances.Pies are 8 million in debt and not all of that is soft debt to owners, ie they have to repay some of it next year. Will they have cheap young squad replacements.Saints face having to pay maturing stars the going rate some have gone, going.Have said before Wire seem to have the brightest accountants so may be less effected.
Within all of that must be some players becoming available who want to stay full time where will they go we have to pick the right ones with value for money..
Tough job innit but it does not mean that we should be in a flat panic. The possibility of SL teams having to run reserves is a concern given pool of players.Dont see that working.
Need to get our management appointed maybe they are persons still in work.
Maybe we have seen the best of RL Harry its certainly as tough a time at the moment as we have seen when trying to predict the future of the game.

Would it not be easier just to put down the players that have signed ?

There are LOTS of players signed up but cannot be announced yet for obvious reasons and there is a few twists and turns yet.

If 2x10 in 2022, this season with a Parachute Payment might not be a bad season to go Down. After all, they voted to keep P&R, so next season should be no different, so 3 down it is !!!
