Not sure the name of the boozer but if you follow the stadium around to the right hand side of the east stand, cross the canal follow the road around and there is a Wigan local boozer on your right, I've had a good few drinks in there wearing my Leigh shirt and had no bother (apart from the normal banter) If not the red robin is always busy but not heaving and the ale is ok. Jut a quick note Sharpeys fish and chips are good but really expensive, £7 for fish and chips.

Ah but Charlie can afford it wurzel.

Bricklayers Arms no longer a boozer, its a homeless shelter now

There's a Brickmakers Arms on Woodhouse Lane along Frog Lane. From there you can get to the stadium across the canal bridge. Like Lambretta says the Bricklayers Arms, near the bus station, is now a homeless shelter. The pub closed down many years ago.

How can you tell the difference? Seems to me all pubs in Wiggin look like homeless shelters.

Brickmakers turns out to be the one I've been in, not bricklayers! Belting little pub.

Go into the pear tree on frog lane, opposite deanery school then just walk down to sams bar which is now run by former Wigan player nick du toit, it's just a 10 min walk then to the ground,

Remember a story I was told when he first arrived no idea if its true but…………

A few of the players were in Bluto’s, music blearing away, the game at the time was go up to a girl and ask very quickly “Ya C*nt a biggan”.

The startled girl usually replied with “WHAT??”

The reply was then said very slowly “You come from Wigan?”

Apparently when it was his turn at the game he asked “You got a fat tw*t”
