Wonderful effort today from the team and an excellent following. Let's hope that gives the team some confidence and we can back it up with a performance against Barrow. I reckon Barrow will be a tougher proposition than Widnes were today.

Well I've not been to an away game for over twelve months. We set off this afternoon for Chester Zoo, me the wife and two kids. It started raining as we were driving so I suggested we make a detour to Widnes and sit in a dry stand. Am I glad we did!! Well done boys. It wasn't the prettiest of games as both teams were clueless in attack. However, we wanted it more and every player defended like Trojans. Widnes just never looked like they could break down our defence. Chris Hill has grown into the player we all knew he could become. I'm afraid we will lose him next season to SL but we should not stand in his way, he has been a good servant for the club and deserves his chance in the big time. Dave Armistead was immense and he was playing on one leg. We looked a better team when Durbin came on the first time for McConnell and in his second spell we looked even better because McConnell went to Loose Forward which gave us even more options. When we have McConnell, Durbin, Marsh and Watson on the field at the same time we are able to create more as the opposition can not just concentrate on Watson, they have three others to look after as well! We saw this in the last ten minutes today, Watson had more time to dictate play and we were able to work the space for Morts try.

A big thank you must go out to the Widnes trio of Webster,Duffy and Thackery. Without those predictable inside passes all day we may be wouldn't have been on top as much in defence. Also a special mention to Lee Doran whose ball retention also helped.

All in all, we are still lacking in creativity, but if we are able to raise our intensity to those levels every week we will be a tough team to beat.

Wonderful second half display from our lads and our fans.

Chris Hill is amazing can,t fault any of them and the players reactions to the fans at the end made me feel real proud.

Re it being a bad game I thought we had 2 evenly matched sides where the tackling was top notch.

I thought the ref was his usual inconsistent self and again another touch judge who made a glaring error in the first half.

I had a go at Ian Mort, and some others, for a terrible performance against Batley. You should have seen his reaction after he kicked the winning goal. He,s a real proud Leyther and so he should be.

Thanks lads even though I paid twice to get in cos I, like a plonker, left the ticket I had bought
at home. Been a long time since I came away from one of our games feeling like I did today.

Thanks lads. icon_smile.gif

I have to say we were absolutely amazing today in the East Stand. The Leyther Roar has returned. The team today showed they have what it takes to overcome a team and a set of officialls. I have never witnessed a more one-sided refereeing display. And the two with the flags, well Zippy and Bungle springs to mind. Our pack was first class today and when Jamie came on even with Jock on the field we started to play a bit. I think when the "forward" roar started, the boys raised their game. It was great to see the boys appreciation of the East Stand at the end, with Dave Armisteads hand at his ear wanting more. Chris Hill was first over to clap us and when all the rest came over to clap us it was the icing on the cake. Team and fans together. Megga.

My only dissapointment was the number of Leythers there, maybe 400 tops. It says a lot does that to me.

I was there with a couple of Widnes mates and they were suprised how few we had in comparison to other seasons.

The noise made at the end made up for it though. icon_lol.gif

Allways notice at the away games that Chris Hill is usually the first over to clap the supporters..........allways appreciates the supporters.

Well done Leigh. eusa_clap.gif

I thought both teams were crap, but Leigh clearly felt they could win it after their first try and went for it.

We had most of the possession and the chances but, as usual this season, couldn't find a way over. Matt Calland said we were clueless while attacking Halifax's line last week, which seemed to annoy a lot of Widnes fans, but he was right. We had the same problem today too.

What the hell have Leigh done to Doran?

He was a good player last time we had him, but has become a penalty machine since he came back. He was trying to con penalties out of the ref for holding down and reefing. Twice he gave up the ball and lost possession doing that! icon_confused.gif

Now if we put the effort in like that every week The Watcher would not complain again.Good discipline despite the ref & Hill was as good as I have seen him.Well done to all the team today, now don't cock it up on Monday against Barrow.
