| My worry is our backs are truly lacking pace'we still give away too many daft penalties and our defence as I have said before is very poor.
Been the same practically all season but we are still top amazingly.
And one final thing do we look like a full time team ? Answer is obvious.

| I think people are over reacting..... Jukesy seems to be a good coach.....
We're top of the league and hVe lost 1 game in the league..... He has gone through more of a rough patch that Rowley ever did with Brierlwy etc....
Let's judge him in the middle 8s (assuming we now get their)

| Most of us say we played good rugby for 90% of last season and fell down at the 8's, Who played a big part in last seasons training/coaching sessions last season (i'll give you a clue, he still is involved in training). Earlier this season we were throwing games away at the end of a match now we seem to be saving games at the end of a match, In LCTV interviews Neil identifies the same areas that were not executed as planned and trained for that we all discuss on this mb, i think what i am trying to say is that to me the evidence is there that Neil is qualified and has the experience with this Leigh team to coach us to success. What i don't try and deny is that it just isn't coming together yet and as worried as i am i'm not worried about our coach or his methods. Have other teams improved, is it playing Leigh that gets a team to raise it's game or does our team think it doesn't have to play all out for 80 to get the win, i don't know there could be so many factors that are contributing to our inability to stay switched on for the full 80 i just don't think it's as simple as change coach.

| Last week AJ bailed us out with some stunning defensive efforts.
Today I think Riddy bailed us out with some flawless goal kicking and a shrewd drop goal. Had a good game in general play too. MoM for me.
We were so so bad today. Don't think any team in history has made as many knock ons as we did this afternoon. We dropped absolutely everything! The conditions were greasy but Batley managed to hold onto it far better than we did!
Feel lucky to have got away with the points today. Defence was just awful.
Batley were terrific IMO. Keegan Hirst had a top game....as always! Dom Brambani absolutely murdered us... as always!
Riddy, Hansen, Acton, Whiting and Hoppy stand out as our best today.
Still of the opinion that we must be the DUMBEST team in the league. AJ throwing a suicide pass out on the 1st tackle in front of the posts was one of the stupidest things I have ever witnessed!
We are top of the league and picking up the points but performances are far from convincing...

| I am just hoping we have a complete reverse to last season. Play poor during regular season, then hit our straps in middle 8's. Also please bring reynolds back, also how much salary cap did we have sat in the stands today, a fair chunk i'd guess.

| I agree with all of what Nozzy has written. Early in the season we gave the backs the benefit of the doubt due to injuries etc., but quite simply apart from Riddy and Ben Reynolds none have had stand out games and there is a distinct lack of pace. It is the performances of the forwards that have won us the games and would think most other teams do not look forward to coming up against them.
We also have to get used to other teams raising their game against us - and I hope I am not being paranoid - but it seems that when ever a championship team is going to play us - a SL team finds players to loan/dual reg to our opposition.
I predicted a very tight game yesterday - and there will be very few games where there is a big points margin - as yesterday's games illustrated.
At this moment in time I cannot see any championship team having an impact in the middle 8's - but we are top of the league and can only hope we improve in the second half of the season.

953.jpg 2015 - major missed opportunity, 2016 - stronger teams = harder task (no problem there then), 2017 - OMG What now!!!:953.jpg |
|
| I think our problems are summed up perfectly by a Batley fan on their board.
The team sheet frightened him to death but we didn't look like a team and lacked pace.
Over to you Neil, anyone who is not giving 100% to the team ethos should not be in the team.

It was a close game but it certainly wasn't tight.

I'm not sure what exactly is being dealt with in training ,but its very apparent come match day none of it is being followed.
Very hard to distinguish who was the part time team in that one.

| It isn't exactly champagne rugby like previous years, but I wouldn't worry too much. And even though the boys are playing a bit disjointed and poorly at times, they are top of the league! When the grounds finally dry up, it will inevitably improve. Apparently we're in for a scorcher this year.
A few things to consider:
- How many players have left the club that played well collectively over the past few years, plus add the ones injured or not in the team at present. 10 plus?
- McNally and Barlow stand out as 2 integral to many try assits and tries in previous years. Plus the other one now messing about at fullback.
- 2 coaches legged it at stupid times of the season to chase the $$$. So much for Rowley's parting statement. And a 2nd in command has had to step up and deal with all that being a number 1 entails. The media alone must eat a lot of energy - and with 2 coaches less.
- The wage bill must be a lot lighter giving room for an imminent director of rugby appointment, taking some weight off #1.
- The forwards have accumulated most of the points which demonstrates their dominance, so when the backs fire on drier grounds, the team will surely become more cohesive and play more expansively.
- One of the best half backs the club has signed hasn't exactly played yet. He must be like a coiled spring ready to EXPLODE! ...you know what I mean.
- And at the end of the season, surely Dayne Weston will be one of the best singings Leigh have made in a long time? How many try asists has this guy made already, absolutely superb and great attitude.
- If it doesn't work out for Jukes, 3 lads linked to Leigh in one way or another that could do a good job (if available at the time obviously) Naylor, Watson and Duffy. All doing superb jobs at present.
Feel free to add anything else.

| Well credit to Batley, they played really well & I think were possibly the better team over the full 80, they'll be disappointed not to come away with the points. Again we looked as if we wanted to do just enough, we never seemed to get going yesterday. Our try line defence was practically non existent so if really hurt us keep letting them piggy back up the pitch with silly technical penalties & knock ons. Yes it's good that we're top of the league & still winning games even when not playing at our best but we really need to step it up, if we keep trying to do just enough to win one week it won't be enough & it certainly won't be enough against SL opposition. It'll be very difficult to suddenly step up our game enough when the Qualifiers start so now we're half way through the league we need to start improving now.
Don't think it's fair to blame Jukes, he's doing a good job in my opinion after being throw in at the deep end. I think he's handled the injury crisis very well, far better than I think Rowley would have done he'd have probably played half the players out injured instead of giving them time to recover. A few times in interviews he's mentioned how frustrated he is at players not closing out games & letting teams back into it, hopefully stealing a victory yesterday will be the wake up call he needs to get the players to realise they can't keep doing it.
Ah well, another win & top of the league at the half way point. You'd have taken it with the chaos at the start of the season but still feel there's a lot more to come, hopefully we'll see it sooner rather than later.
