Then they`d get wet, the same as fans in the North Stand would if that was full to capacity.

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

| Maybe if somebody had explained to the architect that rain doesn't always drop exactly vertically we might have been alright , how much did the stadium cost ?

| Quote: rugbyballs "Just an observation on yesterday's match. I was sitting about 15 rows back in the West stand and got very wet. I wondered what would have happened if there had been a larger crowd on.
Would spectators have been expected to sit in the lower rows and get even wetter? If so, I can imagine many 'casual' and some 'not so casual' spectators not returning.
I understand that the stand is poorly designed but wonder if the East stand can be opened as it it sheltered from the prevailing wind.
In the current climate we cannot afford for situations like this to arise. It will not do to say, 'we are Leythers and things like this don't bother us'. Have LSV got a plan?'"
Prevailing wind IS from the west.
Short of having a roof, if it's windy and raining then wear a waterproof.

| I think Matt has hit on a marketing idea there, charge a quid and get some Leigh branded pac a macs sold
Back 2 rows of West stand dry, 2 rows in front of that slightly wet with bits of raining coming in.
Below that, well you might as well have been sat in a open topped stadium
Isn't unique to the LSV (I got soaked through at Old Trafford a few years back )
Its a bit frustrating I suppose if you didn't get the seats at the back , I suppose even more so when you look across and see a big empty (dry) stand , however the logistics of it must be difficult if deciding on the day to open it and its very very hard for the club to know in advance what the weather is when our highly payed weather experts on TV frequently bring it down to nothing more than a guess.
Whilst I generally dismiss some of the pathetic "Health and Safety" reasons used for things that 'must' be done (with the costs associated) I have to say those steps in the West became very very slippy in the rain, some 'professional claiment' will seize that opportunity if the club/LSV is not careful as we do live in that namby pamby culture.
Be ironic that the East Stand isn't opened due to Safety reasons (lack of stewards etc) only for the LSV to be sued for someone twisting a ankle on a wet surface ! !
Lets not forget though, how often do we get Easterly winds with driving rain, its not to common in summer, so a degree of common sense needed.
Having said that I'm sure that as soon as this is read there will be a thousand yellow 'John Terry' type Health & safety signs being ordered by the LSV managment
EDIT : I need to remember which is East and West when in Leyth and talking about sports stands

| That's depressing news -was it wet in there on Sunday or is the prevailing wind theory correct?

Frank, I've had trouble remembering which is the North and West stand so I've no chance of getting the wind direction correct

Fred you can be my weather balloon as a fellow daft get that stands out in all weathers watching piggling rugby , you've got the final decision
As a veteran of many a fond hour stood on a Pigeon perch filming the Easts and the Miners and in the East & West Stand at the LSV give us your opinion Fred on which is best / worst ....
I've stood outside in the hiss down rain 4 or 5 times watching rugby this year alone and thats not including getting frostbite , it wasn't cold and it wasn't wet yesterday so stop whinging
