| Ive used a Canon XM2 and they are a cracking camcorder very nearly broadcast quality, I think Stu who does Warrington and Widnes has a matched pair of 100's and they are the dogs doodas and are used a lot by broadcasting companies now because of their lightweight and good pic quality, but at £2.5K each a bit too rich for me, the one Im using now A jvc bought by Trevor Barton is a fantastic camera but not as good (though a lot smaller) than the 100.

would it not be more pertinant to ask why LISA want board representation?

| you cant afford the best Steve
Your not wrong but thing is J.C. your question requires more than a YES or NO, which for a straight vote the one I wrote is simpler (isn't it?), yours is a debating point for a meeting, but TBH it doesn't concern me as I'm not a voting member I'm just offering advice on an open forum.

| Well I still think the vast majority reading this thread will see this issue is of absolutely no use whatsoever to the functioning of LISA or the club.
I still want to know why having a LISA member on the board helps and yet here we are having a discussion about wasting LISA money just so folk will eventually realise that.
OK this is my opinion and therefore someone come forward' with a good reason as to why I should change my view.

Hard to argue with that fred other that to say 99.9% will vote yes because it sounds good', not because they know whats going on

| Seems to me that the offer of a place on the Board may be as an 'observer', rather than an active member. I suppose this would guarantee transparency to the fans, through LISA.
Of course, if you believe, like I do, that the current board members are being 'transparent' through events such as Fans' Forums, LISA Meetings, etc. then the offer of a place on the Board is superfluous.
Personally, first I would ask the Board exactly what they would expect from a LISA representative, and then ask the question 'Do we need a person on the Board?' If the answer is 'yes' then look for nominations and vote on them.

Frank - although I understand your concerns re: expense, and I would also question the value of the INDEPENDENT supporters association having board membership, you have to accept that the views of twenty or thirty people on here (many of whom, like me, are not LISA members) means nothing. The 4-5 hundred members of LISA are the only one who can decide on what LISA does about this offer, and as this is a decision that could impact the future of LISA (both in membership numbers, and 'mission'), it would only be fair to afford ALL LISA members the opportunity to express their view - be that in person, or by postal ballot. Either way would be the price of a mailshot, as you could either invite the entire membership to an EGM, or enclose a ballot form (but no SAE.....if they understand the cost of the exercise to LISA, they'll pay their own postage!!). That way, the democratic process is served. As regards the nature of the discussion, or the format of the ballot paper, that again could prove a political mine-field, so the best of luck to whoever sorts that out!!
My two pennerth (as a non member) - LISA must remain an INDEPENDENT body.

Thank you Alan Im slowly losing to will to go on and Im very serious about this
.
BTW Did anyone hear Phil Coffey say that he used to be chairman of LISA and he became a Director and was still chairman of LISA and it did LISA no harm whatsoever.
I dont think they actually are asking us to become an active director.
AS Alan says provide the fans with the transparency some seem to think we should have. AS for the LISA meetings the LISA director would have to sign a disclaimer to say that certain info was confidentual and the members would have to accept that only certain info their director would be able to disclose.
