| Really feel that our game management let us down again yesterday , at 60 minutes in bad conditions with both teams struggling to complete a set and endless knock ons , that was the time to properly set up and take a drop goal and the lead , putting extra pressure on the opposition , we always seem to be re-active rather than pro-active

| Quote: CHEADLE LEYTHER "This is going to be a very tough game, because although newly promoted, they like us, held Toronto to 14 points and have won at Bradford, plus in their last home match put over 50 points against Barrow. Crowds are improving and for the first time this season thee are 3 stands being opened. I believe this is our first visit to Bootham Crescent, but it is a fast surface which should suit us down to the ground. Pownall is back, but should he go to full back to allow Riddy to go back to the halves? Hopefully we will have our Saints contingent back, as we are facing a well coached side by a James Ford.'"
Pity it took John Duffy 30 minutes to realise Riddy is not a full back!!

| Pownall played very well, as did all in those conditions and some came up with some big minutes too.
It would be a shame if it took another injury to Woods to highlight that our obvious best halve combination is Richardson and Riddy.
Still need a bit more speed and far calmer heads, hopefully the supposed return of Liam Hood and provide a bit of this, the York game was 2 points we lost but it was an entertaining match between to fairly well matched teams.

Most definitely one of those games, if you get down there make sure you come back with any points. Just took too long to figure that out.

| I'm in two minds on whether it was bad game management, or just simply missed chances. Either way it wss a frustrating game to watch. We had two missed drop goal attempts, a missed penalty, Thornley's drop with the line at his mercy in the first half, bombed chance the tackle immediately before and Thornley unable to drop onto a kick through in the second half.
We need McNally back into our attack asap, because without him we look too slow. I think a poor kicking game in good conditions from Toronto tricked us into a bad selection. York dominated the first 20 minutes every kick led to either a knock on or a poor start to a set. I think Cox will be on the wing now until McNally is fit.
Anyone know why Higginson and Holroyd aren't getting a look in?

But that's my point , our drop goal attempts were under pressure , they knew we would be doing it ,
Last week after we had scored and got to 6 behind Toronto with 14/13 minutes left , we should have gone up the middle ( we ended up with a repeat set as they knocked on ) and kicked a 1 point , making it a 1 score game to win ( again added pressure on your opposition ) and we retain the ball for a 4 succssesive set
I do wonder if we have any form of ' play book ' as in the captain or HB makes a call and everybody then knows what we are going to do ?

It's a fair point, but I feel too many individual mistakes robbed any chance of going for a 1 point, or getting a pen to convert. Think we went through a spell where we lost the ball within the first two tackles in about 4 consecutive sets. Then, when we did make it 8-8, we gifted them the chance to take 1 point by failing to gather the kick off.
Wouldn't know about play book. But they look like a team that uses the majority of the small time they have together working on defence. This is fair enough, but I'd suggest that the next two weeks are must win games, and we'll need attack to be better.

| Well, hopefully Liam Hood will get us on the 'front foot' a bit more. I also think Riddy is still our most creative player, and has to be at half back.

| The main reason York won was due to the superb kicking game by the scrum half Robinson. He put so much pace on the kick off after we drew level that it was almost impossible to stop, while his kicking on the 6th tackle continually meant we had to clear our lines from within our 20. Woods disappointing again and all the creativity came from Ridyard.

So it was Woods fault? Riddy took the HB position, can't really say his kicking game was on form. Once Pownall went to fullback we ended up weak on the edge again. People keep going on about we need forwards when really we need 3/4 with pace.

You mean he actually tried something different from the kick off rather than just kicking it to the opposition full back as we do ?

| Well I was about to say that if he could do it why couldn’t Riddy try it ? Having said that, Riddy did a superb kickoff in the second half, that caused the full back to concede a drop out, plus we were definitely more creative when he moved to half back.

Riddy missed a relatively easy penalty in his terms. Tight games call for calm heads. The move to HB was forced, not choice. But if you take players out of their comfort zone this is what happens.
Again needs must at times. We have no FB and Pownall can do both but it still leaves us short somewhere.
