| Bailey looked like he had dislocated something last week so a sensible decision. Likewise with Mortimer, he hasn’t played in months so needs to be eased back in to avoid another long term injury.

Pull it back in and play on. Surely that’s not the reason.

| I only played a few years amateur but its quite painful when you dislocate a finger and it hurts more when the trainer pulls it back and tells you to get back on.

Good morning 'H' ! Not having attended the Fev V Leigh game on Saturday I was hoping someone would give us an in depth account of our fantastic result? Reading the Rugby League Press reports it sounds like our 'Friend' Mr Acton had a stormer and, played a significant role in the Win? How did Baldwinson play do you think he will strengthen our squad? (I come in peace by the way)

They all played well Kirkhall. Yes, Acton did play well, despite sustaining a shoulder injury, early on. Hansen, as always, was outstanding for the full 80, despite almost demolishing the goal post when he scored. (I don't know how he and Briscoe managed to play on after that one!) Bodene Thompson had an excellent game, and both hookers were good - the tempo of the game seemed to go up a notch when Hood appeared. Baldwinson was solid - it probably isn't reasonable to expect anything else from him so early. Richards also had a good game, making the break for Hansen's try.
In the backs, Hutchison and Reynolds were outstanding, once we finally got our hands on the ball. Hutchison had a 'good' try (IMO) disallowed and he and Reynolds seemed to have all the time in the world to organise the backs. (like Ridyard did at Leigh)

| I thought it was quite a patchy performance. Excellent in some spells, but sloppy in others. Started slowly, and Mason seemed to struggle in his first spell, and Acton going off early didn't help. But from minutes 15-40, they couldn't live with us. Acton being back on and Hood coming on helped with that.
We then started the second half slowly and conceded early, albeit quite dubious as to whether he got it down. Then we took control again and got to 30-10, then played as if the match was over and a sloppy set with a rushed kick gave them field position to start their comeback. But yet again, we got through that and managed to regain control of the game which was impressive.
Acton, B Thompson, Hansen, Richards were all very good. Baldwinson looked solid. Will be a tough decision on who to pick if Bailey is fit for Blackpool

You're welcome. I think 'Leythig''s view was a good one. Our problem at the start of each half, was getting our hands on the ball. Inevitably, lengthy spells of possession are difficult to defend against. We have to try and stop gifting the opposition possession for long spells - the first ten minutes of virtually every second half have been sloppy, and have been highlighted by the coaching team. Perhaps keeping them on the pitch at half time might be the answer?!
By the way, when I said "like Ridyard did at Leigh" I was referring to his performance for Fev, at Leigh, early in the season!

Its never an easy task to win at Fev and, it has been a grave yard for us on many occasions over the years!
The upcoming Cup Tie against Leeds, at Fev, has me thinking back to 1962 when we played Fev there in the CC 3rd round and after beating Leeds in RD 2, in a replay at Headingly, we were strongly fancied to go all the way to Wembley unfortunately, Fev, had other ideas and for many years after we struggled a Post Office Road
For those who weren't present on that day in 1962, there was a special Train laid on to Fev from Leigh Station and almost all the town seemed to be on it Sadly we no longer have a Station lets hope we get a better outcome against Leeds at P.O.R. as the return Train journey that day in 1962 was made by many bitterly disappointed Leythers!
Good report Phil, I'll look out for you on Saturday, you'll be the one in the Ball & Chain I presume
