| It was a game to far for us. We missed Paterson badly, lost Hoods ability to keep the ruck area at a good speed when Higham was spelled and we missed McNally linking into the attack and threatening.
That said Danny Tickle was impressive and did his job and I thought Willie Tonga had his best game in a Leigh shirt.
We did look jaded but its no wonder. Job was done 2 weeks ago. However as a team we do need to wise up when we go to places like Headingly in SL. That will be addressed.
Overall it has been a truly splendid season of Rugby League and I have enjoyed it immensely.

| Quote: renniethebear "All the Smith lovers can finally button it once and for all. Greg may have a mistake in him but at least he offers something in attack! He's had an absolute shocker and cost us the game IMO, although I do appreciate we haven't been at the races on the whole. Hurry back Greg!'"
The same Greg who rarely runs a ball in, post opposition kick down field? Last night playing behind a bullied pack what would he have done differently? McNally seems more suited to Rowley's style of play. He's fast with a great pair of hands, but is he robust enough for Super League when things get tough?
Although it stings, I think the team will learn a lot from the experience at Leeds and it will be a blessing in disguise. Thursday night, away, damp pitch versus a very good Super League Leeds team with a 14th man on their side - the ref! Watching the game back, I think a lot can be learned from Leeds' tactics and it's evident you need to implement them in Super League to get that early dominance. After 30 mins of tackling consistently, Leigh were shattered. Different night, dry pitch, different ref = different result.
2017 is going to be great!

| He would have caught Segayarro though. As for the ref, hewer never does us any favours. Was interesting to read some of Silverwoods views on incidents in the game

| Game too far !!
We looked poor, and to be honest, Leeds played really patiently and that killed us.
Ridyard had the poorest game for a long time. Non existent and obvious that McDermott spotted his defensive frailties.
As already stated, its job done so no point criticising players. Headingley is a difficult place to go and we were lucky to keep Leeds to under 50 !!
Stroll on next year, and to all the players, Enjoy your break !! You all deserve it !!

| Catching a player is one thing, bringing down is another - I personally prefer Smith's all-round game to Greg's but I'm not singling one out over the other.
Personally the only one in our team who could have caught and tackled Segeyaro was Higson and he obviously wasn't playing.
Losing Worthington early reduced our interchange options but Leeds were just too good.
Too many had a poor showing last night but the job was done and I'm not reading too much into this result but it is something that will definitely be learned from.
For us I think Hansen and Rene went the best and I agree with the crowd from vs Batley, Maitua really should do one more season for us.

| No McNally makes the job much harder for Drinkwater and Riddy, no Patterson takes away more offensive options, No Higson then no Worthington left us with few options. I do believe that if McNally had played we would have scored first, and that would have made things intersting

I agree, Smith looks larger than I remembered him, however he wasn't as slow as people seem to make out. Watch Chico's try again & you'll see Smith starts chasing back some distance away, makes ground and isn't that far from catching Segeyaro.
...however Segeyaro isn't the fastest hooker out there.

| I agree with most of these comments, I thought Lee Smith had a poor game today(yesterday) and was surprised when he was chosen ahead of Greg also would like to have seen Hood given a game ahead of Burns.
Fair due to Leeds they played with some great Intensity

| It was already mission accomplished for Leigh. When it mattered, McNally was chosen ahead of Smith every time. Last night was a dead rubber, so fringe players were given an opportunity.

Is that Chico or Cheeky ? sarcastic waving to chasing players has a habit of coming back to haunt you! I look forward to the future!!

Very True Kirky, I remember Ryan Field house doing it against us at the Shay, he was reminded of it a few times after we beat them on a regular basis.

A bit like Acton's infuriating habit of patting opposition players on the head, when they have made an error. Totally disrespectful.

| Personally (I watched it today on Sky+) I don't think one Leigh player had their very best game & overall Leigh played poor.
HH & Dayne did a good enough job although Dayne looked a little overly wound up for the game.
Hock got caught up in the niggle as did Travis Burns, the ref had no option with most decisions against us as we were our own worst enemies & he got most things right.
Lee Smith didn't have his finest hour but I think he was selected for his better defensive ability. A few years back he would have chased Segeyaro down easily & buried him but did look a little portly & slow last night, in fact I said this to the Mrs.
Leeds played well enough to control the game without being anything great, the penalty count, lack of respect for the ball (not clamping the ball in the tackle & allowing multiple offloads) killed us, lots of metres made on offloads by Rhinos, lots of metres lost on penalties from Leigh.
Yeah it was a nothing game but this was the minimum level *shown by Leeds* that Leigh have to reach in 2017 to be competitive.
Hope all the lads & Derek/Jukesy enjoy Portugal & get refreshed & fit for SL 2017.
Hope that the signing being announced Sunday is NOT Kevin Penny *POOP*.
