| Terrible game. Worst I have seen in a long, long while. I brought a mate who usually only watches football, he yawned all through the match. Of course, we were somewhat "patched up" but blimey, we were poor. Defences were good, though, so credit there, I think.
Referee was ok, some baffling decisions, but I thought we were used to that by now.

| We are no longer getting constantly penalised for holding down in the tackle, but equally I think we are now releasing too quickly allowing sides to get on a roll. Compare how quickly Fev were releasing and not getting penalised. The other thing I have noticed is we seem to get turned too easily in a tackle thus making the PTB slower whereas we are not turning the opposition as easily. IMO we have overcompensated for the dreadful penalty counts earlier in the season. If we continue with this tackling style we will get marmalised in the 8s

| Quote: Budgiezilla "Agreed, he did well at Blackpool, but 2nd half today especially he was awful. And why was it that we got penalised for slowing 'quick' play the balls, but Fev were not penalised once ???
Having said all that though, Rovers looked far more enterprising in attack, but we were so 'predictable & slow' in attack. Spoke to Fevgrinder at the Whistling Wren (nice fella) and he was worried they might get stuffed today, but I'm guesing right now, that he's gutted that they didn't win. We were there for the taking today...(and not all because of the Ref). If we had have played well, the 'man in the middle' would have been insignificant.'"
BZ,
It was good to meet you yesterday, gutted - no, disappointed maybe a little, but most of all proud of containing what still is a very good Leigh side. I enjoyed the game because of the fact that we (Fev) put the effort in. Losing by a low score was a bonus for me, as I said before the game I expected to get beat by around 16 points. Drinkwater looks a good addition to your team having watch him play for you twice now and think that Burns will probably fit in overtime. And even though your pack was a little patched up yesterday it still looks awesome in this league, though your backs don't appear to be as good as last year. Though I suspect part of that is the fact that you are missing McNally, who is almost like having a 3rd half back joining the line.
Thought the Ref was a little inconsistent at times (for both sides) and he appeared to even up the penalty count in the 2nd half having given you (Leigh) a health start in the 1st half, but ultimately though I don't think he made any decisions that altered the out come of the game, which is about as good at the Refs get at this level.
Good luck for the rest of the season (unless we are lucky enough to meet you in the middle .

Dave it was great to see you again, as it always is you are indeed a credit to Fev, and a gent, and a knowledgeable rugby fan, I for one hope Fev make the Top 4 ,and qualify for the middle 8s, and hope to see you when Fev play Fax in July, as we play on the Friday night and have a free Sunday.

| The Ref was the least of our problems yesterday , a truly terrible match , 1 offload in the whole 80 minutes , result ? , a try
Lot of work required

| The ref made a few mistakes, I suppose the obvious poor ones was the Elbow to face (which gained the offender a penalty) and the knock on near the line that was ignored / missed with a drop out given!
The ref's need help from the RFL (I'd even consider looking at the NRL training - is it the same as ours and are the refs as prone to error - or are they less under the spotlight as ours are being miked up so they become the focal point?)and lets be honest it isn't just one man, his touch judges are part of the team.
The officials however made far less mistakes than all the players yesterday and at least the 'decisions' made by them raised the atmosphere which was sadly more than the general standard of RL did for most Leythers yesterday!

| Thought 1st half the ref did fairly well. 2nd half though he seemed to loose the plot completely. I've seen worse refs but I can't remember a ref getting so many 100% crystal clear decisions wrong. No idea how you strip a ball the player is holding over his head trying to offload, or how a player kicks a ball forward while on the floor being tackled.

It wasn't a knock on , it went backwards , then a Leyther knocked it over the line , if we hadn't pushed it out of play they would have scored

| The NRL has two referees. One is called the lead referee and then the pocket referee. One controls the ruck area and one the ten metres. They both have mic,s and head camera. They make bad calls just the same as the uk refs.

I am pleased someone else saw what actually happened instead of what they wanted to have happened.

Was good to see you too. Think we now have to win 5 of our last 6 to make the top 4 which will be a big ask, though possible if we play like we did yesterday.
As yesterday will text you so as to meet up at the Shay, not sure if they will open up the north stand for us or not.

| The ball was lost backwards, confirmed by LCTV & Dave Parkinson.

Just watched on LCTV and he knocked on, didn't think he had at the time but he lost it in the tackle and continued to move forward. The kick through that was caught on the full in the second half was a re run of the Bradford try he was that far offside. Fev 13 spent the entire day around the head and never got done, he fell into Higson and got a penalty for head contact. Fev pushes at ptb not done, etc etc
Absolutely shocking performance - again consistency is all anyone could ask for as anyone can make a one off error.
