For me a game spoilt by a ref who allowed things to get out of hand. Both sets of players also allowed it to happen. The most upsetting thing for me today, was both sets of fans. After last week anyone calling the ref for stopping play for a player down in back play needs to look in the mirror. Reckon both sides will need a minibus for the following weeks disciplinary.

Awful game, at half time I couldn't see us winning this at all.

I thought Ben Reynolds played better than Riddy today & Pownall was very good & made some great breaks & yards.

Regards the 'all in' brawl, I thought that the ref had lost the game long before the "head butt" which I didn't see at all.
He was pen, pen, pen & allowed a lot of holding & several 6 yard 10 yards. The game had been spoiled way before any afters occured.

Haggerty was on his ass when he got hit & didn't hold back in retaliation, the whole mêlée should have got stopped long before it expanded.

Poor team performance today from Leigh, some good individual efforts, neither the attack or defence was at the level expected, line speed was down, handling a little off, generally disjointed.

Webster & Co from Wakey were sat behind us & I don't think he will have seen anything to be worried about.

We will pay for the indiscipline soon enough.

A nice ground out win against a very poor Halifax team. I said before the game that your forwards will be the reason you do not get promoted and Im going to stick with that. Getting bossed by what everyone on here has stated is a very average pack must be a little worrying. I even named Armstrong as one of the standout players in the team but today he was made to look very poor by a lad who many Fax fans dont even think should be in the team.

I cant wait to watch the video.

GFB, You do some unnecessary trolling. We have a good pack and you guys gave a decent performance today against a poor Leigh display. Anyway we will get promoted and we won't see you next year. icon_biggrin.gif You will have to keep on with the niggles with the rest of the championship sides next year. icon_lol.gif

Leigh were sluggish and tired for me, but still good enough to force a win. That's what winners do.

Halifax lack pace but very good in defence.

Both sides lost their heads and the brawl was ridiculous.

The ref was average at best.

Like somebody said earlier, at 6-14 I could see nowt but a Fax win, we looked so flat and they were really up for it.

They had a very simple game plan - drive hard up the middle, throw it wide when you can, kick deep and tackle everything in a red jersey, and it was very effective. As for the niggle, every coach in this league knows that if you niggle our lot they will lose their game yeds and go looking for retribution - again very effective today.

For a supposedly clever lad that Tom Armstrong is as thick as 2 short planks. In a tight game we've just got back in front by 4 points and with ball in hand he tups a defender (Murrell?) I've no doubt he didn't tup him for nowt but again, a bit of niggle and our lot lose their yeds. Culcheth Eagles under 7s know it's the retaliator who gets pinged.

On the subject of Armstrong, today was for me his worst ever showing for us. The second half Fax try was atrocious defending from him, Heaton carried him 10 yards to the line - not good enough Tom.

As a Fax fan thats complete opposite to what most of us were thinking at that stage. We have thrown a lot of games away this season and we do not seem to have an upset in us, not saying that we threw this one away because I thought Leigh were the slightly better of two very evenly matched teams on the day.

Heaton does not get the credit he deserves even from Fax fans. If he can improve his passing game he will be up there with the top 3 or 4 centres in this league. Its not the first time, and it wont be the last, that he makes one of the best centres at this level look distinctly average. I think it was out of that frustration that the headbutt came from.

You had to be poor for us to get near you, dropped balls and rushed passes under pressure does seem to suggest we played just a very very very small part in that though.
