Moimoi based on reputation alone? How can you choose a player who hasn't even played a game as your greatest signing, even if your young and never seen your past legends play. Surly at the moment Brierley is a better signing than Moimoi as he has done the business. For all the hype Moimoi as of yet hasn't made a tackle, run the ball in or put 1 single bum on a seat. Murphy best signing easily,really interesting deal done by Leigh to get him as he was in dispute with Saints and Leigh got around this by signing him as a coach and luckily for us unlike Roy Keane he was a great coach as well as player.The fact that we managed to wangle it that he could also play for us was massive and boy did he repay us with some brilliant performances.
I would say deal wise Tommy Martyn senior was great business as that was a surprise for everyone and most only knew when they saw him warming up before his first game that he was a Leigh player.

From my PoV this as a like-for-like comparison of players at the point we signed them, and their reputation and stature in the game at that time.
Fui is the biggest star name we have signed since A J Murphy, imho.

lol, years ago when we sold Paul Newlove we bought Andy Currier for about 130k. He was a massive name at the time and came with a big reputation. Talk about bums on seats over 2500 fans turned out to watch him in his debut in a friendly against Dewsbury. He got badly injured in the game and had no intention of recovering, he only played a handful of games. Turned out to be one of our worst signings ever.
I don't care what reputation Moimoi has, to claim a player who is still other side of the world and not pulled a shirt on is your greatest ever signing is just plain silly. |

Fred , we paid Warrington £50,000 for Ian Potter , and the Blackpool boys Bell and Hart paid Leeds £55,000 for David Stephenson , because he was Keith Bells next door neighbour , I remember Ian Schubert arriving on a wave of Publicity he didn't do much though .

As for Schubert yes not the best overseas signing ever but it got us what money cant buy and that is exactly what Fui Fui Moimoi has done so far - Positive publicity, when wasa the last time we were headline sports news on both sides of the world? sometimes people can't see the woods for the trees.

Fui Fui Moi Moi is a fantastic SIGNING
Whether he goes on to be the greatest player signed to play for Leigh is a completely different thing.

He simply wont have the time in one maybe two seasons to prove if he is any where near one of the best [not greatest]players to play for Leigh. |
