| Once again, the cursed 'social media' would seem to have been responsible (?) for beating the official announcement from the club!

| Sad to see John go , but its a case of The King is Dead , Long Live the King , someone will take over and hopefully steer us to our Destiny , I have faith in the BOM , though Maurice is looking a tad aged these days his Fringe is getting Higher by the week .

| There is nothing you can do Alan if the person who the statement is about posts first on social media. In my industry there are strict rules now and last year while working on a major feature film a work mate was sacked on the spot. He posted a picture of nothing important in the morning and was escorted off the plot the same afternoon. It's big business now monitoring social media for companies.

| At the last Lisa meeting John told us that he had been invited to sit in the meetings at parliament and his wife never saw him these days, so could that have something to do it.

If, as the OP states, he himself put it out on social media.....well, that's the way of the modern world.

Read John Roddy's tweet at 4 am this morning - came straight from the horse's mouth so to speak. Reading between the lines it seems to be more to do with his own ever-growing business commitments than anything 'wrong' at the club. There's only so many hours in a day for any man.
What a brilliant legacy John has left though. Best of luck to him and thanks.

| found this thread intresting on the fax site a few days ago did Starbug know something???:

To be honest I'm not sure who puts the money in or the amounts involved. I'm sure Abbott is a big contributor. I agree with all your frustrations but I was just saying I'm not sure the best thing to do is to drive away those that do put money in, otherwise we'll end up in Championship II.
Leigh seem to have spread their risk and Andy Mazey commented last week that Leigh would never again put the club in the hands of just one man. The Leigh example of what can be achieved in a short time gives me hope that all is not lost. Those running the club certainly need to increase the activity off the field or find someone else who can. First priority though must be to ensure financial safety.

An interesting statement to make by Andy, what you tend to see is a cycle of a group of local businessmen gain control of a club ,then eventually one by one they leave either because they cannot manage the level of investement asked of them, or quite simply they get fed up of being outvoted on how the club should be run
So you then see one director gain control quite simply because he can afford it, then something will happen resulting in another group of businessmen coming in again , this has happened 3 times at Leigh in the last 20 years
If a seriously rich investor came through the door at Leigh, I would be very surprised if he was refused the opportunity to gain sole control
It isnt about the structure of the administration at any club, its about what they do, putting cash in is great, depending on what the money is spent on decides where you go from there on, just paying good wages to good players will work short term, but isnt sustainable, running a sports business is a lot more complicated than that

| I don't know if it's good or bad news. As he tweeted "my job is done" if his job was to steer Leigh Centurions to be the best club in the Championship both on and off the field, then yes it is done ( and a bloody brilliant job he made of it)
Thanks John, you and the rest of the BOM have worked miracles, hope this ride goes on.

| Since coming on the Leigh BOD John has been appointed CEO of a Global Security company who's business interests have virtually doubled over the last 12 months, I met John again after a period of some 30+ years when he came on the BOD and together we spoke about a pay-per-view service that would enhance the Leigh Centurions brand that had always been a vision of mine that I never thought would be put into service. But with Johns great assistance and drive (and of course the support of the other team members) we have seen that part of the 'brand' grow until we now have over 500 active subscribers.
I have not spoken to John since his decision to depart us but am sure it is just because he can't devote enough time because of his own business commitments.
But on a personal note I thank him for what he has done in bringing our great club to another level, he will be a hard act to follow, good luck mate, who the heck am I going to myther now then

IRN-BRU - THE NEW TASTE OF RUGBY LEAGUE !!:10619.jpg |
|
| Starbug is not wrong in what he wrote.
The key to any successful consortium is that everyone continues to sing from the same hymn sheet and any differences of opinion (of which there will inevitably be over time) no matter how small are always resolved quickly and amicably.
I have no reason however to believe anything other than everyone at Leigh shares the same ambition, are pleased at where the club is at this moment in time and all focused on delivering Super League status.

| It's unfortunate for us that John Roddy has had to step down, the board with him as chairman has obviously done a fantastic job saving he club and brining it from the brink of collapse to being ready for Super League. Following him on twitter he's obviously a very busy man and I'd hope it's simply that he can't find the time to carry on doing the work Leigh need him to do. Want to thank him, wish him all the best and hope to still see him round the LSV on matchdays.
