I won't lie I have been a critic of Rowley's at times and I expected to lose today, however that was nothing short of outstanding. Not just that, but Leigh played some real exciting football. Now to keep it up for the next 25 rounds!

Quote: Dick Jones "Yes you are right Demon

I was pointing out that Batley are still agood team and we should not write them off .
We can't treat anyone lightly , results today show that !

I agree re Aston'"

Lynda , I don't think PR will treat anyone lightly , we scored some very good tries today against a decent team , it can get better though , when the drier ground starts , Ryan could have had a couple more tires today but was unlucky the ball went to ground , when we open up we showed what can b done , I think the rest of the League will sit up at this result , be interesting to hear what JK has to say . icon_eek.gif .

Well I thought we were a little rusty. That is not meant as a criticism as we scored some belting tries, the like that has not been seen since the Terzis era. The lads bombed a few chances, but come April time we will be more fluid and the passes will stick. We could and will put 70+ points on teams like that this season. When you consider the strength in depth we have in the squad, it all bodes well for the season.

Well...................that was very impressive a014.gif a014.gif

I always fancied us to win but in a really tight affair and possibly a bonus point to the Dogs. But after a slow start and going behind it was virtually exhibition stuff. When was the last time a Leigh side ran in so many long range tries? And not against poor opposition - the Dogs will still be there or thereabouts come crunch time.

One minor gripe, both tries conceded (2nd one particularly) very soft.

Another minor gripe, didn't agree with MOM - Riddy played well enough but there were others more worthy (e.g. I thought Higgy was sensational on the wing).

The future's bright, the future's Leyth!!!!!

Thought we where excellent today. We where very expansive at times and it came off. A couple of times it could have cost us if it went wrong but it didn't. Nice to see a side prepared to play positively in any area of the pitch. Batley are a side who are always strong, never spectacular. To score 50 against them was unbelievable. We left some rally good players out of the 17 today too so the competition for places is there also. Absolutely magnificent

Biggest positive this year is the quality of the guys who didn't make the 17.

You could pick up an injury or two in any position and still have class players step into the fold.

Not only that we will have competition for places and should be able to rest one or two players each week without detriment to the team.

I'm not naive enough to get too excited but I do believe that the future is bright.

Some top drawer tries this afternoon. Don't think we ever got past about 80% of our best as well...I fear for the opposition when the combinations click a bit better and we hit a team full pelt!

My word what a game Ryan Duffy had, certainly showed he's in the team on merit.

As others have said some great tries scored today, and a real good team effort, but without seeming to hit top gear, there's lots more to come from this team. think the Armstrong Brown Partnership will become a delight to watch as the season progresses.

A team scoring 50 odd points it hard not to pick your main playmaker as MOM and most put in good stints, Kez is always worth a mention, Duffy looks fitter, Spencer just loves the game, but my MOM was Sarsfield worked very hard all afternoon.

Glad to see the attendance above 2k and it seemed noticeable that more kids were present, all in all early days but heading in the right direction......Well done to all concerned. eusa_clap.gif eusa_clap.gif

Matt, Ryan was right up there for MOM IMO. Talking about PR, you should have seen the look on his face at half time going down the tunnel. It looked like someone was going to get it in the changing room. There was loads of positives from today. The tries we sored would have graced any international or grand final. But. That wasn't a very good Batley side.
I know it's very early but some of our passing from the play the ball was tripe and slow. Batley were there for the taking out wide. In the friendlies we showed that we can be fast at this and when we do it in this league god help the opposition. Those lads out there have the potential to put 100 points past some teams. Next week I would love us to be hungry in defence when we have Barrow in their own 20. Prediction for next week, Barrow 10 - Leigh 44. I can only see Sheff, Fax and Fev getting anywhere near those boys. Very happy Leyther tonight.

Don't write off Dewsbury this year. Got a decent side this year with Wayne Godwin at hooker, Ste Nash, Aizue and big Tommy Gallagher in the forwards and an old teammate of mine Greg Scott who is a fantastic winger/centre. Big season ahead for the Rams I reckon.

To see the standered of rugby on display today by Leigh was welcomed by all the fans who have put there trust in the team that they have followed home and away and have been promised this display by Paul and the bom for there support.lets hope it attracts more fans to see a team wanting to get in super league and give the fans of leigh something to be proud of .

The young hooker from the U20's would cure that.

Do you know that in the friendlies I sat near an old fella that I see at games and we both looked at each other when young Josh Lewis came on and said that that was how to pass from the play the ball. Crisp and straight to the player. Paul is going to have a right headache in a bit because they will all want to be playing infront of that crowd.

What a fantastic result and another brilliant day out at the LSV.
I'll buck the trend a little as for the first 10-15 mins of the first and second half I felt we was very sluggish and certainly at the start of the first half we looked hesitant.
Of course in those first 15mins in each period our forwards did a lot of work on Batleys forwards and quite possibly it was those periods that maybe had a massive bearing on the big scoreline as once our backs get some ball and clicked we played some fantastic open RL.
For me it was hard to pick stand out players as we had quite a few over the park but Higson, Brown and Brierley deserve a special mention for a pretty complete 80minutes, The MOM could easily have come from them (Riddy got the official MOM) however our forwards as a collective really showed that they could be a big force this season.
Some of the try's showed what we can be capable of and Brierley showed us yet again he knows how to be there at the right time to get his name on the scoreboard (think it was 18 points he got today).
There is a big feel good factor at Leigh at the moment from the Junior Centurions pack my lad received to the positive on field performance and the togetherness of the players who seem to have gelled as a unit quickly.
Its very early days and no doubt Rowley won't be getting carried away but as a fan I just felt today like a corner was being turned on & off the field - happy days.
