Quote: dubairl "il say one thing about leigh they looked very well coached but in the fitness department they were left lacking a bit but its only understandable considering you can't train full time.

Not really up to date on the championship but with sam barlow and tom spencer surely you have the strongest front row?

So anybody still complaining about the team wigan sent?'"

IT was on the basis of last year's score, 30-6 to Leigh.

Saw some neat plays today and don't think any Championship clubs would have done any better. I know it's a bit of a cliché but the pies ARE in a different league to us.
Leigh will get better still and PR will still experiment with the team, Im sure he already knows the preferred backbone of the team but the fringes will still be up for grabs. Well done lads, a decent start. icon_wink.gif

Definitely a very young team from Wigan, and I have to confess that it disappointed me somewhat, initially. That said, Wigan's youngsters were far more 'up for it' than last season, and showed a lot of class, especially when moving the ball about.

For me, the game was highly entertaining, and well worth the entrance money.

But where will 3/4 of that team play this season. Many were too old for the U19s. You can't play overage players I don't think in the U19s.

I think Rogues mentioned somewhere that 7 or 8 of them are still eligible to play under 19's. I guess powell or williams will get loans somewhere as they are to good to just sit around and the others will play at dual reg clubs.

Trouble with taking half backs on loan is that they are usually the lynch pin of any teams ayyack and that means a big ho;e when they are called back, both are IMO future Internationals but still need to play together as they can only get better, and why Wigan have brought over an overpaid Aussie when they have a full back like the two today baffles all judgement

Wigan's full back today is one impressive player as is 1 of their centres he was right hand side second half.

For us Kes Finn and Sarsfield not to mention Spenner were outstanding.

15 minutes at the start of the second half we never touched the ball and missed tackles cost us.

We need to improve our speed at the play the ball. We will.

Oh just so you know I go int North stand.

Disappointed that board members put on here that Wigan promised to send a full strength side.

Only Crosby and Tomkins would feature in Wigan's full strength 17 for me. However in the two wingers Burgess and Manfredi they've got two wingers who should be battling it out to take Pat Richards' place.

No doubt many of them will probably go on in time to play for Wigan's first team.

Wilkes, Spencer, Sarsfield, Goulden and Barlow is gonna be one hell of a starting pack for Leigh.

I thought that was a cracking game & well worth every penny from my perspective. We all knew that we weren't going to see Wigoons best squad but there was a good balance of 1st teamers, fringe players & the up & coming pies. Beswick's a beast but with no Penky or Gov available we missed having a impact dummy half brought on & could of made the difference although Kay did a sterling job filling in after playing in't halves. I hope Beswick is ok he was hobbling for a bit before coming off. All our signings did well Wilkes is a solid forward & is very mobile with Kay looking like a cracking signing & is going to have a big future in the game. Acton only managed 5-10 mins did he get injured?
