Just a thought it may be "barking up the wrong tree" however, what seems to be the in thing right now is gambling in any shape or form.
Its all over the TV ,adverts for foxy bingo, bet365, poker sites etc etc

LISA poker raises over £2000 a year with just 12-24 people playing every week.

Now what about the ladies, could we not do a "Bingo" evening, bear in mind I dont know the gambling laws on this

Also at Hilton Park we had a bookmaker at some point, would it not be possible to have this on match days where people can bet on first try scorer etc?

A bonus ball competition could be run every week with the payment being done via the LISA paypal account?

Could be worth looking into maybe, could you ask at the next PSG meeting perhaps?

Lynda you are so right about Gambling being a big part of Sport and fundraising , in Australia a very big slice of Rugby clubs income is generated from Gambling , mostly Fruit Machines , there are none in the LSV , but im not to sure about what the rules are in getting them installed , but they do make money , we had a couple in the Mick Martyn bar at Hilton Park .

And we all know about what the forcast money used to make , as you say maybe a first try scorer , i always had a bet a Hilton Park , makes the game and result more interesting , and is worth thinking about .

Re the first try scorer it wouldn't be hard to run, just need to set it up on the LISA website or set up a new site just for it and a volunteer to run it, which would not be very hard if we took the payments at matches or via the paypal account we have for LISA.

You could also run special tipping comps on special race meetings maybe?

Not to sure about "Pokie ", machines Lyndas icon_eek.gif but the Fruit Machines are very popular , maybe one in Legends and one upstairs in the Bar , worth a try .

All these competitions etc will not get the extra fans we need. They will just be supported by the usual few who will sooner or later get sick of keep digging into their pockets or begging friends to come.
The Directors MUST come up with something - it's amazing how many of those on here have some good ideas yet nothing appears to come from those running the club. All we get is "Bring a friend" or "LISA, we need some money".
Also, when we have this push on bringing a friend could someone let the players / coach know - it may work if they joined in !!!!

Thing is we need to do long term work on increasing our fan base.
The club have set a few things in motion recently, however these will take time, it hasn't helped that the "Community Dept" were made redundant and during the time between the new foundation being in place, we have not done much in the Community during that period. We went from being awarded Community Club of the year in 2011 to not having one at all.
I know we have now set up one again and the work is underway to resolve these isssues but it will take time.
However the Foundation/Community section can do all the hard work they want unless we have a "marketing budget" like Starbug keeps going on about, its not going to work, as wont the free tickets , these offers have to be backed up with cheap tickets and get the "new fans" hooked, so they'll come back regular not just on a free ticket.
We seem to have concentrate on what players we have on the pitch first and foremost.
Then again its a chicken and egg situation, without a decent team, no one will come, espeicaly if we keep losing, patience is something Leigh fans dont seem to have a lot of.

There is nothing the club can do on its own to get fans through the gate. It all comes from the top the rfl, call me out of date, I saw my first game in 1954. Uncontested scrums, has the ball played the man, holding the ball with one hand who wants it, opposition takes it off him a penalty. No promotion relegation all reasons why people have stopped coming. Players like Palisena were a joke 10 min wonders then puffing and blowing for 30 mins. last Friday was a classic example of why I'm considering packing it in, not the the fact we were well down at half time, but the game and the rules we now play to. Those in blind folds may say the games on the up, it's dying on its feet. Chap at work went to Newcastle last weekend for a stag do, they couldn't watch a game anywhere. If this is how those in charge want the game to be played, then let them get their supporters in, its not mine.

A fool shows his annoyance at once, but a prudent man overlooks an insult”:

Mr lobby,very true words

Our game as changed for the worse over the years

The rules get tinkered with every year we have no identidy anymore

Back to what tipster ste asked.....if the club is 40k short on current attendances are they not halfway there with lisa 15k and touchdown 5k making it a 20k shortfall.

Now a quick reckoning by me means over the next 28 weeks the club as to find 714.28p a week now split between 4 directors[do we have 4?] it works at £178.57 a week per director

Stick a pound on entrance that should sort it keith icon_smile.gif

kcab sfrawdder Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done But he with a chuckle replied That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried. So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin On his face. If he worried he hid it. He started to sing as he tackled the thing That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg
