| 10 YEARS ago (or so) this would have been an exciting fixture.
Coupled with the game being shown live on premier/valentines day....should be about 50 Leythers there....maybe.

| Well I've planned the perfect valentines day treat. Train on Thursday at 1130 from Bolton (first class) change at Barrow to Whitehaven then a romantic meal booked for 5.30 in Table Table. Followed by a taxi into town for Haven v Leigh. Who said romance is dead.whitehaven is a romantic village in the lakes isn't it?

| Slightly O/T from the thread but I think whats discussed here is exactly what the RFL should be looking at solving.
Whilst there are a lot of genuine reasons for not attending be it Thur Night clashing with work, Valentines Night, Don't want to assist a DR club, People working etc, etc the problem is that people are not attending a live RL match.
Is it because of those reasons above or is it because that in the broad scheme of things the match isn't viewed as vital - win or lose will it seriously effect our chances of winning the GF and being seen as successful.
I do wonder if we had first past the post whether fans would be thinking (already) that we must win to stop Fev pulling away etc, etc, obviously if we had P&R that would also be a factor but the gate slide isn't just relevent to Haven v Leigh as I think the RFL need to start looking at the reasons this is happening as a quick glance at the gates in our game show they are woeful at our level and its looking like visits from Ourselves, Fax and Fev are going to be the only chance some clubs get of getting a Four figure gate (and even with those clubs its still likely to be less than 1,200) - the alarm bells should be blaring out loud at Red Hall as the DR 'farce' aside from being a slap in the face to most Championship fans could be disguising some major problems at our level (and possibly at SL level - hardly bigger gates than League 1 Football clubs).
Could be some tough days ahead.
Just as a aside, does Leigh Centurions have a club affiliated Pub , one thats sponsors them but one that (for instance) would show the Leigh games when live on Premier with the club encouraging fans to go their if unable to travel with the club involved in the evening in some capacity, creating a matchday experience amongst like minded fans ?
Might help build up our supporter > club interaction which was brilliant in the Parky Pig 'era' but which has been missing since Pre SL.

| Whilst I class myself as a fervent Leigh fan, even I draw the line at travelling up to Whitehaven for a night match, in the middle of February - especially with snow being forecast. I realise that we are probably something of a local derby for Whitehaven but, for my money, their Thursday night games could have been restricted to Barrow and Workington, where there would have been the bonus of a good atmosphere.
Whitehaven successfully appealed against travelling to Sheffield, in Summer, for a Thursday game but we weren't successful in trying to do the same. Oh, and by the way, when the RFL/Premier get round to finding a replacement televised game when Whitehaven are at Sheffield, we play at Workington. I wonder which game will be selected?
Huge applause for the diehards who are going up there on Thursday. Have a safe trip.
