Were they attracting this derision before the newspaper report....which is mostly one sided, bar the important line that our acting CEO, who wasn't around in this capacity before September, is trying to set up a meeting with them but getting no where.

Isn't reffy a Wire fan (who own their own ground) so wouldn't know how much the LSV once charged Leigh for renting a small office. Now I've mentioned that it might also be worth mentioning that the LSV, according to what I heard had vastly reduced its charges to Leigh to help them out, so maybe Trevor is armed with a compromise. It seems though we will never know if the PPA is hell bent on trying to damage the good work done just a few days before the start of the season. The newspaper report could have been written six months ago. My reasoning is that they may have felt they would get massive support from the fans to their 'plight' by leaving it till now. Reading some of the comments in this thread it appears it could have backfired on them.

I would say that as soon as it sorted - for the good of everyone - the should have a ball for all the past and present players and bury that hatchet good and deep.

let's hope it's backfired....it's only 3 day still out 1st game of the season & we NEED 2000 fans. you probably noticed I posted my guess of the crowd on sunday is 1598....i hope i'm wrong, but with newpaper article like this one....let's hope the rest of the leigh public ignore these moaners / journalist looking for a story to create an impact without thought of the consequences & prove me wrong with my crowd estimation. To the past players who are more interested in their own entitlements than the wider interests of the club where it is today - thanks for all you've done in yesteryear. But please make sure the door doesn't hit you on your way out.

Fortunately I can't see this having much impact on attendances. It's pretty obvious to anyone who has a passing knowledge of rugby and the situation at Leigh that they are way out of line. Not attending a match for 2 years? Crazy...

Something which was sadly lacking in the report in the Leigh Journal.

Well maybe someone should write telling them what is the truth, instead of allowing a local Leigh paper try to destroy all the hard work done, alot of it unpaid, in the last 3 months.

That I agree (Demon's post) with and it just shows what an uniformative story was printed by the Journal.

Maybe the writer of the story would clarify why the report did not have responses from the club and the LSV.

After that trajic liner accident off that Italian Island the press reported the captain jumped into a lifeboat before the passengers had departed.

Some surprising comments directed at guys who have put there bodies on the line for the club and fans.
I certainly hope this can be sorted, not interested in who is right or wrong but lets put it right as soon as possible.

The big problem is that the PPA has decided to take this story public whilst at the same time saying that there's no way back. So why take the story public at all. There's nothing that can be done if you believe their statements.

The way the PPA has been treated was wrong. But if that can be fixed going forward then the PPA's stubbornness is helpful to nobody.

Whilst I entirely agree with the sentiment here, given Leigh's precarious financial state where every penny has to be watched, who is going to pay for this room? It would be nice to have a dedicated room for past players and their momentos of their time, but without the LSV behind it, saying they will do it for nothing, it's only a dream.
If it were me in charge, not only would I found them a room, but I'd also find space in a bar for the museum, we really need that back with the club itself.

Bad story - The way I see it though is that Leigh are in a no-win situation. Trevor has responded how he sees fit and I'm sure will try for a resolution. I would leave it at that for now until there is anything further to say.

History is what everything is built on but the immediate future of the club is paramount.

I respect what any former player did for my club, I respect anyone that has ever crossed a whitewash anywhere for the pleasure of a supporter but surely they can see the situation the club are in?

This club will progress, it will get stronger but only with everyone pulling in the same direction.
