| Quote: TV BOY "If the RFL hadn't stepped in there would be no Leigh Centurions.'"
If the RFL weren't such clowns the championship wouldn't have been so degraded and Leigh might not have been in such a mess.
I fear for the game because of the clowns in charge, but what's much scarier than that is the number of people on these boards that step up to defend them. The fans won't save the game because too many think things are just fine. Any act of basic competence is lauded, completely missing the point that they have no direction, no realism, basically no bleedin' clue whatsoever. Very unimpressive people, leader is an accountant - wow how inspiring. And I'm sorry to insult the obese, but you know what, in 95% or more cases it comes down to not having the discipline to eat less and exercise more, and I don't want to see a big fat mess running a sport which is about athleticism and inspiring kids to play sport and lead healthy lives. There.

Yet Super League is the be all and end all as we kill the game off in the heartlands and spread the game to the welcoming arms of the Welsh and Londoners we will surely beat the Ozziies with a combined team of Welsh and Londoners. Rugby League is a real joke now. We need to get back to looking after our own. 2 professional leagues of 12 teams in the heartlands with promotion and relegation will get the interest and the passion back. We also need the British Lions back.
Rugby League will be dead in England in 10 years if things don't change. It isn't even called Rugby League now - it is called Super League - isn't that women's football or basketball??
Could you imagine an English team in the NRL, they wood win the wooden spoon every time.
Next season in the Championship we have a 10 team league with no promotion or relegation. That really will draw the crowds in won't it. The game is dying because of the idiots in charge and everyone of us it letting this happen.
I heard people congratulating the RFL for helping us out with the HMRC. If the RFL gave every club a decent salary cap whereby we could attract investors this would not happen. The RFL are making us into a poor feeder club so please don't thank them when they seemingly come to our rescue. They along with SL have taken away the heart of the game whereby every team has a chance to go right to the very top and win the Challenge cUp and the Grand Final.
No League is dead thanks to SL and RFL, The Meerkat and Nigel Woods.'"
Yeah screw 42,000 at Wembley and lesser nations like Wales keeping New Zealand to under 40 at Wembley, let's play England - Australia in Featherstone and those sheep shaggers should be forced to play Serbia for the next five centuries before we even decide to grace them with our presence.

Give us chance to get our 2 new stands up and we may just about squeeze 42,000 in
(And our pies won't be £3.50 each )
(And you may, just may be able to get a pint of acorn beer (copyright Charlie C ))

| The day they stopped promotion and relegation stifffling any ambition in the lower leagues, was the day rugby league died in my eyes.
The game is in its death throes and there is too much indifference for anyone to do anything about it.
The Super League pigs have their snouts in the trough and are clearly indifferent to the damage they are doing to the many clubs they are keeping out.

The RFL are not the reason for the state of our club. Other factors were the cause. I also don't think the RFLs policies are not for the good of the game but they helped to save our club from the brink of disaster. Fact.

Australia did look troubled.
We don't need the Lions back.
A Super League team wouldn't win the wooden spoon every time.

| I agree with what everything said about the demise of our game. In the last 5 years it has gone alarming backwards.
Too many meaningless games, not enough competitiveness, no interest no crowds.
This was re-iterated on soccer saturday recently, when non promotion/relegation bewteen the Premiership and Championship was debated. It was dismissed as pure stupidity.
The direction RFL leaders are taking the game is suicidal. Our game is dieing.
I have been an ardent RL for 50 years and I am also becoming very disinterested.

| Look at the prospect for clubs outside the championship with the amount of travelling the supporters have to undertake that league will be the first to die.
The championship wont be much different either we are on a slippy slide and unless the SKY money is increased for the lower leagues then pro rugby outside of super league will be a thing of the past.

| I'm just wondering what game the OP watched.
What I saw was a game that we were robbed of by a couple of cr*p refereeing decisions
Still, it gives the usual suspects a new reason for a rant - the fact that we haven't beaten Australia in a meaningful match in many, many years, long before the introducing of franchising is obviously irrelevant.

| The facts are:
The ref did deprive us of a couple of crucial calls that could have made the scoreline closer. However, if you watch the game again (which I have) without the patriotic spectacles on you can see that the better team won the game. In fact I would go as far as saying, that if anything the Aussies were playing within themselves.
The good thing on the horizon however, is that they have to play Wales next time around. This might sound bizarre but that is a good thing for England. The Kiwis played Wales in second gear and will have lost the momentum they gained last week when they played the Aussies. They will come into the game at the KC slightly undercooked and we have a good chance in turning them over. Likewise Sheens will want to give game time to his squad against the Welsh and they could go into the final against (hopefully) the English a bit dis-jointed and under cooked, whereas the English will be coming into this with an increase in momentum. Bizarrely losing against the Aussies means we have a better chance than ever of winning this comp (if only McNamarra picks the right team!).

953.jpg 2015 - major missed opportunity, 2016 - stronger teams = harder task (no problem there then), 2017 - OMG What now!!!:953.jpg |

| We can't even beat them by filling our own team with aussies. More imports in our game in key positions means fewer true Englishmen to chose from. Take away the leagues below SL, what will become of SL? It will become NRL division 2
