| Once I heard the news that IM was leaving us, I was disappointed that the inevitable had eventually happened and then I worried about the next process, i.e. appointing a replacement. IMO we do not have anybody at the club capable of making an appointment. Tell me what the current directors know about such an important job and who is a good candidate and who isnt. AT appointed IM, they had been friends for a long time and it didnt take long for Arthur to persuade Ian to return to coach the Centurions. Arthur has now left us, Rowley followed him and Ian is now on his way. We have a chief executive who works his cobblers off for the sport at both amateur and professional and will, as a former copper, know about crowd control and likely problems at Featherstone which I have noted he is investigating, but will not have sufficient knowledge or experience to go through the process of making a coaching appointment from advertising the post, drawing up a short list and then making the appointment. Also tell me which Director you could pass this important job to, or even as a unit. They havent got the capabilities or experience in my view to handle such an important appointment. I hope and prey that Ian will offer his expertese and experience to tell the Board what is needed and the correct procedure to follow. I have every faith in Ian, everything about the man is ideal and he will be sadly missed.

No nothing else.
You have convinced me that you are the right men to head up the selection process

| As Starbug said somewhere previously, lets get the next 2 or 3 matches out the way before we speculate or worry. I personally believe that experience in being involved as an employer and in that particular field are "experiences" needed rather than qualifications in appointing a coach. I cannot work a sewing machine very well but I am more than capable and have evidence to prove that I am capable of employing one to work at the highest level.

Thank you. Now these hardly challenged the worlds best lets say, so getting IM was kind of obvious one.. Even I could have made that decision.

Well that would have been myself , Ste , Phil and Darren
But it was Grainey that ' proclaimed '
And it wasn't u 7 s
The problem you have is , what process do you go through ? , do you advertise and ask for applicants ? , or do you ring up who you consider potential targets ?
Each time you change coaches the circumstances are different , with Tony , we had time to advertise , we got around 30 applicants and interviewed about 6/7 , this after getting references and checking up on the interested parties
Darren Shaw was part of that interview process and was therefore contacted the following time , Paul had the assistants job when Darren left and so was a hopefully seamless and quick option , Neil was at the time a logical choice , and a popular one , probably because of how well he had done against us , which quite often is a reason people are selected
Maybe this time as has been suggested we will ask Ians opinions as that option is available to us
Every time it is different , there is no right or wrong way to go about it

Albeit probably the most expensive one as well
But let's not forget , we are hardly the most attractive prospect for a coach either , even though in recent years 98-11 we have had 7 different people in 8 managerial changes , before that the average was probably one a season
We need some stability , that requires common sense and a touch of ' reality ' both on the people charged with making the appointment and the fans once it is made , history tells us that in sport generally unless you have billions to waste , giving coaches time pays off in the end , constantly changing both costs money and disrupts any chance of success

| I'm affraid it will have to come with a crust around it. Thats what they eat when they are watching a game over there. Pies washed down with VB. Now I know thats hard to take but when I go over there next year I will be distibuting the Leythers Knowledge of all Lobbys. The regional recipes will be in it and the king of Lobbys ( with mince, carrotts and stock) will be my signature dish. I'll have a Lobby Shack franchise all over the continent by the time I'm 52. World domination by the time I'm 54. Believe.
