You should do a thread with a count up of how many you get to join since AT leaving, show people how successful you are, might generate some momentum.

No because the more you tell people that loads have signed up , the less people WILL sign up , if somebody else is paying for their entertainment , why should they contribute

I wil produce a calander with the players as we did a few seasons ago on the style of the calander girls and get buisness sponsors so it wil pay for its self did anyone see that it was good and i will advertise it with my products in the fitness magazines

LISA is intending to give out 2,000 membership forms at the match on Sunday against Dewsbury , in an attempt to get 1,000 new members and secure the short term future of the club

We need people to get to the match early and basically shove these forms in the hands of fans coming in and quickly explain why the need to sign up there and then , threaten them , insult them , hit them with a baseball bat if necessary , we really don't care , as long as they sign up there and then

So are you up for it ?

You write a lot on this board and generally I think you talk a lot of sense, but I have to confess that sometimes I think you can be contrary simply for the sake of it. Take this comment as an example. Can you REALLY imagine Children on Need on a Friday night trying to raise funds but not telling people (until they are sick to death of it) of how much money has been raised and what last years total was (i.e. a target)?

Why if every fundraising campaign I have ever seen used this model, should we decide not to? Is the Leigh public that much different from the rest of the nation?

Surely then we should be setting a public target of total LISA membership and an annual pledge number, together with regular updates of where we are on both items. People like to be involved and know how they have contributed to a massive team effort. Some might be persuaded (like me) to up their contribution to push us over the top. If we meet a target we simply set a higher one and start again.

Fair do's I am a bit twitchy at the moment , but you do understand my point that with the general apathy our fans can sometimes display , not to mention trying to gain entrance for free as I have witnessed many times , the more that think ' so we've got a load signed up , I'll not bother ' the less chance we have of hitting the target

Fair enough! I think there is going to be a downside to whatever things we try to do. People will take advantage of the system somehow. However, as you have said, we have to run this as a business and put the emotions to one side. If there is a (reasonably certain and definable) net benefit to a scheme then we should proceed with it and take the rough with the smooth - we'll lose on the swings but gains on the roundabouts so to speak...

There has to be a two pronged approach here - get the charity in to secure the short term future, but start running as a business for the medium to long term. I believe that the charity element will be required for the foreseeable future running alongside but that cannot be the only show in town as there are limits to what charity can achieve.

Good - as I said I am prepared to quadruple my membership once I find out where we are. Thats like another three new members.
