Got any evidence for the FACT?

i could'nt see it impacting on our gates tbh.
if this messageboard is anything to go by,then thers only a couple of people who could go watching local SLE games over leigh.

surely, the idea of a change of day is to get MORE people there, like the lapsed fan, and, sorry to say, that is NOT going to happen if you go head to head with S /L on sky
lets look at it from mr average's point of view...........
big game on the telly friday night, or 16 gold coins to watch sheffield at the LSV?
let me throw another scenario into the mix...........would 1pm on sunday work, so the fans have most of the day to go about other business?? no one whinged at the earlier K O for the keighley game when we got caught up in ponseball.

| if somebody could explain what the fascination is about playing on Friday evenings, i shall be delighted to listen, to me its possibly the worse time imagimable to lay a game, away fans, well we don't get alot now, we get even less playing on Friday, like has been said SL already have the SKY game, plus numerous others, i am under 50 and i hate having to go to watch my club play on a friday, sunday is best IMO. I notice with interest that Leeds, are going to play all their non SKY games on a Sunday, interesting as by all accountsd its FACT that more peole go to a Friday game, leave it as it is, the people who do not come now will not suddenly say, hey they are playing on Friday, lets all pile down tot he LSV, who ever thinks thast is living on a different planet to me.

i dont think we have that many lapsed fans tbh,we've always averaged around the 2000 mark.with the odd exeption, the terzis years wernt bad, what we need is new fans.
the hardcore will turn up anyday of the week but atracting new fans is proving difficult.so perhaps evening games are the future..we wont know if we dont try.
as for the sky game played at the same time,do you not think people will record the game and watch it at a later time?

How many people can be ar8ed watching the majority of SL games (Hull v Harlequins, Catalons v Wakefield etc etc)? Does live SL keep the thousands of drinkers in on a Friday night? They can record it by the way and most people have a facility to do so these days.
I think our attendances are more likely to be affected due to a family day out on a Sunday than a live SL match on Sat evening. What people forget is that one of the biggest clashes for us is that youngsters play on a Sunday morning and does stop some folk attending our games due to either being out all morning or getting back late from away games etc. FACT - I know of a few people who will not buy season tickets for this reason.
As regards the 1pm KO - that was the worst build up / atmosphere I have ever experienced so that's a NO NO from me.

Completely agree with that - most pubs don't even show the Super League games these days so I don't think it's too much to compete with.

I honestly don't think they do. You might get the odd one with their mates and if we play a big game e.g. against Widnes, maybe 25 or 50 in total. I wouldn't even take this into consideration.

I (like most) would probably record SL games, but the ones that do need the extra push to go, including SL fans probably won't go. Fans of other local SL clubs need to be targeted too.
As for worst atmosphere ever - it has to be Doncaster at home in 2006.

| when the club asked us to vote for our prefered date i didnt bother because i would prefer mid-week games, but as that is not going to happen i vote for friday nights 8pm kickoff.also we're likely to be on tele on thursday half a dozen times so there'll be less disruption for the players.
