| Sadly, I think the jeering incident will overshadow not only the reason for the heckling, but also the whole purpose of the memorial service.
Maybe it was daft to send a Government minister under the circumstances, but questions would have been asked had there not been a representative of Government present.
The main thing is that lessons have been learned from that horrible day and may they never happen again.
RIP, the 96.

No it wont and they have a memorial service every year it's just because it was 20 years that so much emphasis has been put on this one.
It's good that Burnham was there but probably best if he hadn't spoken on an occasion like that to be honest.

Reading Teletext and online, "minister jeered" seems to be a common headline rather than "30,000 pay their respects".

| The police where too blame, that's why so many of them 'retired' after the incident.
Lack of communication, 2 paddocks where left locked and should have been opened before the surge happened, if these had been opened there wouldn't have been a disaster like there was.

| If it had happened 2 months earlier than it did, I quite possibly wouldn't have been here to type this as I was stood in that very same middle pen and was being pushed and crushed against the barriers.
No one should go to a sporting event and come home in a wooden box.

Do you spread your arms out like plane wings and sing about Munich like most Bolton & Leeds fans?

It sometimes depends if Utd fans are disprespecting our War heros, singing about 96 not being enough, Istanbul Reds, etc etc etc.
I dont think any fans can take the moral high ground on things like this.

Your right of course however, Bolton fans inparticular have been singing these songs for forty years I know of!

Just how did the police cause the crush? Would the police had to have opened exit gate C if Liverpool fans hadn't been getting crushed outside the ground? No
These two locked paddocks you mention. would these be the same paddocks that were acessable if you turned left or right as you entered through the turnstyle? one fan who is now a bbc reporter was told to do this by his mate who died in the central pen.
As you went through gate C you had the acess tunnel for the central pen right infront of you so all the fans headed straight for the tunnel in a rush to see the game. Now should there have been a gate that they could have closed to ristrict entry to the paddock once full? if they did they could have stopped the surge meaning fans could have spread out left and right into the other paddocks.
As i've said before the whole day could have been handled better by the police (acting quicker), fans(wouldn't have happed without them), stewards(should have directed fans to the other paddocks),FA (not taking the advice from Manchester United fans a few months before) , Sheffield Wednesday (not keeping the ground upto standard) etc etc but to just blame the police outright is just idiotic.
What really gets to me though is this whole justice campaign, there has already been two inquries into the disaster but the familys wern't happy with the verdict so want another but what happens if they don't like that verdict? My guess is they would push for a forth and fith etc etc untill they get the decission they want but then what? Would they want compenstion? Would there friends want compensation? Would they sleep better at night? Do they expect 96 people to suddenly rise from the dead?
If you want to ask an ex copper what it was like that day you should get in touch with Huddersfield as there saftey officer was on duty that day.
