| It really is time we got over this and concentrated on trying to make the club better!! Nothing is going to bring back p & r unless something drastically hapens which I can't see!
We need to look at home and how we can get more fans, better rugby etc and then if we have a perfect application worry about gettin in SL!

| Well I actually agree 100% with the last poster.
Fax are currently the best side at our level. We should be trying to be a better side than them.
We are stuck this season because of deals done after Tony Benson left. Those deals are over at the end of the season.
We live in hope.

| Agree with Frank. But to answer Rantunrave - I got rid of Sky sports last year and haven't gone back. I hate Sky and would rather see us give the TV rights away to a terrestrial channel for nowt than pay Murdoch a penny. And it's funny how a fan of Gateshead (in all probability the next "fashionable" club in the RFL's eyes) now thinks people standing up to Sky is pathetic.....

Over 50 years of pain, pleasure, frustration, joy, heartache and ecstasy that supporting Leigh has given me but I would not swop it.: |

If everyone who supported a non SL team who subscribes to SKY cancelled and stopped going to pubs that showed SL on Friday and telling the landlord why, yes I think it could make a differance.
If everyone thought its not worth trying because it won't make a differance nothing would happen in this world of any significance.
Leaders of today have counted on our tolerance and willingness to put up with most things, the one thing all politicians and Heads of companies fear is a public outcry against themselves or their organisations.
If you as an individual don't make a stand, you can't moan if nothing changes.
I cancelled my subscription and stopped going to watch the SL games in the pub, It may not change a thing but it makes me feel a bit better.

| Agree with Twitch - I don't expect for a minute that Sky will give a flying wotsit about me (IMO they've already proved they don't care about the game of RL at all). But at least I'm not still paying them my money for the privilege of letting them poop on me from a great height. If you find that pathetic or funny, fair enough - you keep stumping up your cash and let them keep ruining the game.....

rugby league would be dead without skys money.
every decent player would be playing union and the top clubs would eventually be part time.
the fact is we are a minority sport but because of sky we actually have a uk audience that incedibally matches union club games.
how much do you think bbc would pay and how many live matches would they show.

Your missing the point.
The vast majority of Skys money has gone into the back pockets of SL players a high % being from overseas. If thats what makes you happy great but it certainly does nothing for me and my love of the game.
RL is more than 14 SL clubs and one day when its too late the powers that be will realize this.

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

| I still have SKY and will continue to increase Uncle Ruperts billions
Those that want to make a protest are welcome to do so
We dont get any money from SKY and in all truth we dont earn any either , so I dont really see it as a problem
What is wrong is the RFL's lack of respect that is shown to the clubs outside SL
They have little to no interest in us and spend little if any time and effort in promoting the competition we play in and the clubs in it , there is the odd exception to this of course depending on location
It is the RFL our anger and dissatisfaction should be aimed at

| Quote: mr. chairman "well said dave , i talk to a lot of people in rugby union and the big difference is that union put a lot of money into grassroots , example eccles ru who play in a low league got 250000 of the rfu last year, we will never be a national sport untill the rfl and its clubs invest in grassroots, i also spoke with david lyon in depth about union and to be honest i was emmbarrased and felt deflated'"
i agree that we need to develop young british players like the rhinos have done with their academy.
but we can hardly point the finger at sky because other super league clubs spend their money on overseas has beens and player wages.
i bet if we get to super league ever again we too would be wanting those very signings but of a much higher quality than the last shambles

I disagree with that actually , as a 2 nd tier club our main aim should be the survival and prosperity of our club and the competition we are in
Unfortunatley we dont have the resources to produce the quality of player needed to beat the Aussies
RL will never have the finance to be like union and therefore has to take a different pathway

You're missing the point. Unusually for a Leigh fan, I support franchising. Without it the game as a whole is completely up sh**e creek without a paddle. Perhaps not on the playing side, but without Skys money the game is a dead duck.
You want to see Leigh in SL, so do I. But I don't want to see us in SL playing in front of 10 blokes and a whippet, which is where we are going to go without Sky. And he who pays the piper calls the tune.
Look at the sport from a greater angle than that of a parochial supporter and you will see we have a history of throwing good money after bad in trying to keep 'traditional' clubs going. We can't afford to do that any more, and the only viable alternative is to bow to Skys rules.

| So you want these so called bad teams to die then?
And replace them with more french more welsh oh and a irish one and a scottish one....how does that help England?
The game will survive without sky...lets look were all this sky money goes?
On youth ? on lower tier clubs? on a national stadium for our national team?
Lets look at what the game as achieved since super league as started...do we win internationals? nope infact we play less internationals now
Do we have a strong vibrant game? nope infact the game is losing more clubs than gaining with so called old tired clubs being allowed to die slowly
Have we gots loads of great young talent coming through? nope all levels are full of players unable to hold down a regular spot in the southern hemisphere
So basically all this sky money seems to be for clubs to line the pockets of club directors, over rated players from down under and over flated payments to sub standard homegrown players.
So if sky walk away and why would they walk away from a product they get thesecond and third weekly highest rated sport on there network for basically peanuts how would our game change?
Would it mean we could go back to regular touring sides ,even playing against clubs on a tour
Would it mean internationals getting aired on national tv at prime time saturday afternoon ,I mean we use to fill bigger grounds than what we do now under sky?
Aye sky have been such a great saviour of our game
