| Pre-season friendlies apart, it has been a while since Leigh/Wigan was realistically a derby. At present it's a bit like saying Liverpool versus Tranmere is the Merseyside derby. Wigan take the Saints clashes much more to heart and, for Bongser who knows far more Salford RL fans than Wigan ones, this NEW derby is the one where he'll be hoping for the bragging rights. The clubs are a fair bit more evenly matched and so, putting grouses over local administrative issues aside, that's the one he'll be attempting to see home and away.

| As a Salford fan I think it's a great gesture and given there is a Guided Bus stop at the end of my road I'll definitely be jumping on and taking advantage of this whenever Salford aren't playing next season.

| I too think it is a great bit of sky blue thinking by the Chairmen.
I would have also included the incentive into the Salford and Leigh games too. It could have potentially meant two very good attendances for both games with no real profit loss, just the gain of more bums on seats.
Salford would have certainly gained IMHO.

| Agree with Ste100Centirions & Snowy's latest posts on this thread regarding the exclusion of the head to head games. Would personally consider lowering prices generally to say a quarter off for non ST holders aswell, fill the stadia and bill the games as a big occasion. Then again, DB & the Doc seem pretty adept on the business side of things so Bongser (who isn't) will leave his tuppen'orth at that.

| It's to bring income in not take it away, a Leigh ST holder watching Salford is extra £ , But watching Salford v Leigh would be going anyway and is less £, LRL is not a charity for tight sods

With the greatest of respect, Maurice, Bongser was referring to enthusing the lapsed supporters of both clubs, making a big thing of the head to heads twixt the Academy members (if it comes to that) and possibly taking a little more coin both on the day (see Ste100 above) and, more importantly, down the line. As was said though, they are the business men.

| The deal is for ST holders, which is a controlled risk/cost/reward and creates another reason to buy one. It is vital the club builds any added value around its ST holders to encourage more fans in that direction which stabilises attendance in times of famine. SL is not fan friendly as we have seen from the fixtures recently, which discourages habits something we have based our crowd growth on recently so extra incentives must be available for fans to take the plunge

| SL might not be friendly for all but, as Bongser works all Sundays, he'll be able to get to a lot more games this season and the ST option is already the better deal. He only say this, Maurice, so that you stop thinking that he has a vested interest when trying to fill the ground. This particular 'tight get' is already sold on the existing risk/cost/reward as you term it.
Last heard that from an American who also asked if UK was prepared for Y2K

| If I directed a post at Bongser I would indicate so, we have done the freebie v Batley. The way forward is to get fans to pay upfront, then make their experiences as beneficial as possible to do so. I would give fans a reduced price ticket to bring a non regular mate to a specified game that we have a great chance of winning eg Huddersfield or Wakey or Catalans but I would make it an early season game so any benefits would be maximised

| Why discounts though? It then becomes cheaper to not buy a season ticket which in turn inhibits the clubs recruitment, you can buy any match all in one go I believe from the ticket office or you can order online but I believe until we have working scanners you will not be able to print off again due to fraud

Hull KR's scanners didn't work with the 'e-ticket' I printed from their on-line ticket office. So, we are not alone in having problems with ticket scanning!

| You don't have to give discounts on every match, and looking at the bigger picture there will still be 2k + of fans that won't buy a season ticket. What does that equate to possibly 40% of revenue.Get into them online, get them registering, get them electronic passes.Give them options to buy batches of games online with a discount.Charge a registration fee for joining online..Get a PayPal account so people can order straight from their smart phones. All adds up in the end.

Agree with all but no discounts at all, unless we do a membership at say £30 and provide £30 of discounts
