| Quote: Budgiezilla "The thing is, out of our 'backs' NONE have ever played in Super League ....(apart from McNally 1 game in 2010) Think we are doing pretty OK, even though you can train players with natural pace, to run slightly quicker. But when I watched Kieran Dixon race in for his try early 2nd half, can't remember last time I saw a player as quick as that, SHEER pace. Generally our 'quick passing' to our backline creates gaps and tries (v most teams we have played). But against the KR backs this was always gonna be difficult. If you had a 'pack' to match your backs, you wouldn't be in the 'middle 8's , would you ?'"
Whilst I totally agree with your sentiments on this post - I would point out that Armstrong (17 matches for Saints) and Kay (5 for Wakefield) have played SL.
Did you notice that Kay (and everyone else) soon gave up the chase when Dixon broke away for his try. As you say, he is seriously quick!

| I would like to see Kay, Potts, and Worrincy in a foot race. I think Potts and Kay would have the edge over 50 yards or so but Worrincy is a total powerhouse and I think he might run them both down. Last time they had one of these races didnt Calvert from Haven win it with Penny involved?

| Omar Caro won it 3 years ago but not sure if still held. Think premier sports promoted it.

| I think the fact that Kay went for the ankle tap suggested that he wouldn't catch him.

Frank, LK was never 30m behind Chisholm until after he'd thrown himself on the ground. He was certainly close enough to make contact with his ankle tap.
Ant, Chisholm is not a SL winger, he's an aging overweight Aussie half back
He's 25 and doesn't look to be carrying much timber, I'll admit he doesn't look particularly fit though.

Well that aging, overweight, Aussie (although what nationality has got to do with it, I don't know) ran almost the length of the field and scored.
I agree, though, nobody would have caught Dixon.

Twas tongue in cheek mate, hence the smileys
I don't know anything about the bloke and couldn't be *rsed to look him up. However, AFAIK he is not a winger, nor is he renowned for his lighting pace.

When he signed for us, one of the main selling points the club used when announcing his signature was his pace.

Obviously doesn't matter now but I would like to know what folk think.
We all know Liam Kay can motor. I would be very surprised if Chisholm is faster than him over 100m. I reckon if LK had stayed on his feet instead of diving for the ankle tap on
1/2 way he could have caught Chisholm comfortably.
Maybe Liam was a bit tired, who knows but I've watched it a couple of times now and I think Liam was already catching Chisholm. He made a decision and thats that now

| Liam Kay made a half break running accross the field then put McNally through a gap from which he almost scored. chisholms break came on the very next ptb so I reckon he was too tired for a 100m chase. Reckon a fresh Kay would have caught him

| I'm with Pat on this one.
Watched the foot race live & then watched it back on Sky+.
My first thought was that Liam would catch him & viewing back confirmed what I already knew, LK would definitely have caught Chisholme.
IMO Liam made a wrong choice in going for the ankle tap, if he was close enough to tap then given the distance left he would have had him. Liam made the call & that was that.
Regarding our other wingers, I feel that Higson is a Centre trying to be a winger.
JP has fleet of foot & a good step, he relies more on his ability to drop a shoulder & turn sharp to carve a way through.
Should we be fortunate enough to be promoted to SL at the end of the 8's then I think Liam will be safe on the left, having a big haul of tries & showing his finishing ability will make his spot secure.
For me at least, if we are in SL next year then I would want a big & seriously fast winger added to the squad & two SL/NRL class forwards too.
