| Aye Bart, but I can't see any posts from Fred. The hit was just in front of me. Like everyone else I saw it in 'real time'. Normally when a borderline hit goes in I look straight at the ref - half expecting a penalty. But my initial reaction was that he just got cleaned out good and proper with one of a series of big hits that happened on friday. Then I hear (and read) a different view from Leigh fans - that's why I asked if anyone has actually seen the recording - cos I haven't yet - getting a copy tomorrow hopefully.

You're right. We all need to see the incident before passing judgement. To me, 'in real time', it looked like a heavy shoulder charge. There is a suggestion that young Pownall broke his collar bone, which wouldn't make the charge illegal. I suppose the point of interest would be how he got an apparent bang in the face - and exactly what Stuart Dickens then did, when the lad was lying prone. (it didn't seem to be the kiss of life! ) However, just to re-iterate your point, it's all conjecture really.
Someone on here likened it to the Rangi Chase challenge on Ropati. I don't think so! I've watched that one umpteen times and still reckon it was Chase's elbow!

| I've broken my nose playing rugby five times Alan. Each time it was in the tackle and on none of the occassions was foul play involved. It happens in contact sport.
Your initial interpretation was (coincidently) exactly how I saw it. But having read and heard all the accounts from Leigh fans I was begining to believe I'd seen it wrongly. - perhaps not. I shall see the recording tomorrow then hopefully I can pass a more informed comment.
Comparisons to the Rangi Chase shot are (IMO) ridiculous. That was an unforgiveable deliberate attempt to harm someone.
Like I said, I will see the vid. If I believe the fev player made a cheap shot, I will say so. I've never ducked owt like this before. I won't start now.

Same as everyone else in the team. I don't think he was the same after he got injured at Sheffield away, don't think he got to 100% anyway.

| Well having watched it I think he must have caught him on the shoulder hence the injury. Agree about the cheap shot by Dickens.
Oh and a comment on the commentator. I thought he was good and quite amusing every now and again.

| Just seen it. From the replay Anthony England wipes him out with a good shot to the shoulder but doesn't complete the tackle tho the player was prone. Dickens (legally) follows it the tackle and agressively (but legally) drops on him finishing the tackle.
Look thru the vid, you see it happen a few times thru the game from both parties.
If either player was cited for that tackle I would have been miffed. Leigh do have the right to cite players if they feel foul play was perpetrated. From what I understand neither players or coach wished to do that on friday.
It was a proper blood n snot game of the old school. No quarter asked or given. We've had players injured this year in what initially looked to be dodgy tackles but after review were simply sustained in the high octaine collision sport we watch.
The actions of Rangi Chase was a deliberate and cynical attempt to injure a player - that's different. I saw nowt from either team that warranted a citation on friday.
I try as best as I can to remain objective and try to avoid the blue n white tinted specs. If I saw it aggressive, daft, foul play, etc - I'd say so - see posts following Tim Spears dismissal v Batley and Ingy's red at Hunslet.
This one I think the ref called right - as apparently did player and coach. [I wasn't party to those conversations so can only post anecdotally].

| Cheap shot from Dickens no need whatsoever to follow up with that on the young winger.. I'm sure the Leigh forwards will give the him what he deserves a week Thursday...

| Leigh's team will pay Fev back for that incident Robin.
Our team always play within the rules.
Our coaching team isn't daft. We will close down your halfbacks and have more than one kicker a week Thursday.
