..... and I'll be standing in the Hilton Park stand, yes that's right I've named the North Stand myself: |
|
| Quote: mr. chairman "both miners and east have shown the world of RL that leigh is the hot spot for rugby players this weekend , we dont need petty comments (on if we would have played them) thats playground talk . well done miners and well done east and hopefully centurions will go through and take the name of leigh into the next round . both amateur teams and the sidall result just proves the gap is closing and the NCL premier is the most competetive league in RL'"
It wasn't meant to be petty just an opinion (thought that was what the board was for), and I had already stated that I thought both sides had done very well. I'd also corrected myself before you posted.
I have no allegiance to either East or Miners so well done to both

| I really enjoyed today's game too... it's a pity that the ref lost control of it somewhat,a penalty count of 13-19 hardly points to a freeflowing game but given what they could play East put it through the hands and to be honest the bit of biff near the end livened things up.
Hunslet were so relieved at the final whistle - East gave it to one of the expected Championship One front runners which contained so much experience.Well done fellas, proud of you all this evening. Gary Middlehurst was tremendous today and Ryan Peters is becoming a tidy halfback indeed. East frightened the living daylights out of Hunslet and there is no doubt that the gap is closing between the top amateur teams and the semi-pro teams.
I'm proud to be from this town tonight with the two very good amateur teams I have on my doorstep.

As a Leyther, you’re one of us the moment you come here to wear the shirt. I don't care where you were born, what colour you are, what religion you are, what language you speak. Couldn't agree more Dave. For me, the referees lack of control in the final quarter spoiled what could easily have been a much closer result.
East were certainly not outclassed, and for me Hunslet looked tired and a little panicky toward the end.
Fantastic performance.

| Have seen both games this weekend and if I am entertained any where near as much today I will be more than happy. Two fanatastic performances by both East and Miners. Well done boys you can be proud of yourselves. Listening to the East lads gettin psyched? up in the dressing room took me back a few years and I thought when all the coaching staff went straight to the referee to shake hands even after he had shafted their team all day was a credit to the whole set up. Our great game is alive and kicking in Leigh.
