Fairly sure it was reported as such , it was only decided upon and voted on the meeting the week prior to the MPG as an insurance policy against Catalans dropping down and losing their income from their TV deal

| Quote: atomic "The generated income from the SL season, going where?'"
You spend you income in the season you earn it , you make an assessment of what you think you will earn and set your budget accordingly , if you fall short , then somebody ( owner directors ) has to make up the difference , which is why we find ourselves where we currently are , as I said , non of my business but if we did keep this years squad then I reckon Derek would be looking at chucking in a million + next season
So the question is despite him rubber stamping the contracts would I want him risking his business to subsidise MY match ticket ?
NO

Maybe he doesn't want to , maybe he isn't in a position to , either way it's his call , personally I'm happy for him to do what's best for himself

| My take with Derek is He let the whole Paul Rowley / Toronto saga consume him IMO.
It was because of it, and a burning desire from Derek for Jukes to succeed and prove to be a far better coach than Rowley, and show Derek's decison to appoint Neil as his successor as the right one , that he was allowed to continue as head coach way beyond the point where is time was clearly up.
When a coach loses his dressing room, there is inevitably only ever one outcome.
Unfortunately, Derek going against the tried and tested methodology saw it differently and instead of the coach being shown the door, the players were. It proved to be the recipe for complete disaster.
Every other contributory factor is just secondary. IMHO of course.

Pretty sure DB made a comment stating the parachute payment decision by SL, concerning any relegated SL club was made mid season.

Quite possibly an accurate assessment Harold , for me I believe coaches are changed too often , I cite Sean Daish at Burnley , they stood by him when they were relegated and were rewarded with a second promotion and a 7 th finish

You might well be correct , although haven't heard any mention of it being repeated this year , it does seem plausible that the Catalans would have lost considerable income had they dropped to the Championship

I am not sure about that.
I seem to recall from Derek, it was voted for at the beginning of the season by SL clubs. Derek voted in favour for it, never believing for one moment we would benefit from it.

I agree as well ,I think we have all heard stories and rumours about Paul departure, and what happened,it would be great if the truth came out ,one day but I can't see it,I think it was a case of whether one calls or raises the antenna, and got into a personal vendetta.
Myself I've always liked Paul,I'd even have him back , but I can't see it happening, I'd love to see Ryan B return, and maybe Adam Higson, could KP be the Coach to lead us into a new era ?I really hope so, I once told Darren Abram when he was long gone and forgotten, I would still be a Leigh fan, the same goes for Derek, if he goes or stays, I will stay.Charlie knows.
