I thought you did really well today. Of course it's daft to take much from friendlies overall, but there were positives for you. Your kicking game was excellent and defensively you looked well organised. You look like you have a real chance of staying up if you focus on your home games in particular.

As for us, I'm not sure what that was all about. We only have one friendly so really could have done with keeping the changes to a minimum, like a regular game. Instead once we got in front we seemed to throw all the kids on and completely removed any momentum and chemistry we had. There are starting players going into the season with about 20 minutes gametime under their belt. I can easily see a slow start by us this year.

We had 6 of our new signings unavailable, plus there are more signings to come in due course,so overall, I was happy with that performance considering we haven't played a game for a year. BTW - How biased is Jon Wilkin?

At last a decent kicking game, anyone remember Reynolds and Woods dismal out of hand kicking game. Ellis and Mellor knitted well together, and Marty Russell was outstanding on the left wing with an enthusiastic pack of forwards led well by Thompson, topped off by a Ryan Brierley cameo at the end.

Biased John Wilkin- Was he commentating on the game, all I heard was, what he used to do, his time at Saints and what a lovely guy Tommy Makinson is. Having slagged off Sky commentators maybe I'll appreciate them a little more this season. Wel done Leigh.

I have always been convinced our starting 13 will be competitive, I just believe we need more depth in the squad to make sure we don't end up like Toronto and cant field a full team. We don't have a Sonny Bill taking up all our funds.
