Hock was fine today IMO. Played well, ran hard, got through a lot of work and did much more minutes than when he 1st joined. 1st yellow was silly for gobbing off and just a build up of pens. 2nd yellow he really didn't seem to do much at all. His main offence was being nearby and being called Gareth Hock as far as I could tell. He let himself down with a couple of things but did more good than bad.

Acton though was stupid, I called that fight 10 seconds before it started. Acton got cleaned out off the ball by Batley's 13 and it was missed by the ref. He was fuming and should have been taken out of the scrum. Sure enough, a bit of provocation and off he goes. He's a very good player but we have other props just as good but with better discipline. For me he should be dropped and told he needs to learn to keep his cool.

Overall we were poor today but defence was great (we did enough of it!) and Batley struggled to break us down despite dominating possession and territory and winning the penalty count easily.

I don't normally slate refs but that guy today was hopeless. Wasn't so much his decision making as just a general weakness. He was never in control of that game at all.

Batley were tough and impressed me. With about 20 mins to go, 2 points down, a man down and playing up the hill I thought we might have been in trouble. Fair play to the lads for coming back at them late on.

Moimoi and Higson were good and Goulden and Dixon got through a tonne of work.

Bob Beswick MoM by a mile. 40 mins at hooker, 2 mins as a sub then 38 mins at 7. What a player!

We got a penalty for the off the ball hit on Acton, but yes you could see it coming. Wonder if there is all this following warrington v Huddersfield.

I think Hocks first yellow was for dissent, and presumably the second for retaliation? Yes, the ref did have a bad game. why did he not have a word with both packs at the scrum, prior to the bust-up - clearly there were wind-ups happening before the scrum went down. The thing is, and its been said before, why do we consistently bite when we are being baited?

4 sin bins, 3 brawls and alleged spitting. Nah no one will care.

If Hock deserved one, two or no sin binnings surely two yellows should equal a red as in footie? Also? how can some of you lads on here defend Leigh's discipline? It's appalling. Charlie/Frank/Steve? Cheery Tree, shudds. Rooster's Yankee 4.3 % Mmm!

Not really, in football a yellow has no real punishment. In RL a yellow gets 10 mins, another gets you another 10 mins. Seems fair enough IMO.

We went to the match today and I too called that brawl before it started. Same old, same old. Hock is only useful if the game is going along nicely and nobody rattles him. Get in his face though and he just can't handle it. People said on here, before we signed him, that he is world class.... Give me a break! World class players don't have more yellow cards than off-loads, sorry! He's had one good game (Whitehaven away) but the negatives have certainly outnumbered the positives so far.

Acton could be a very good prop but he's too daft. Simple. He provokes the opposition more than he rips through them.


Overall today, the conditions were terrible and we just about acquitted ourselves better than Batley. Our defence was fantastic throughout.

Seems to me every time we play a side from Yorkshire trouble always starts when the Yorkie side knows they are going to get beat.

Their fans ie Yorky fans all back the Yorky side whenever the Yorky side kicks off trouble.

They only ever agree with fans of their own county irrespective of them not seeing the game.

Disciplinary panel reviews the game and invariably it's the Yorkshire team players who start the trouble because of course they do receive the heavier punishments.

We are the only Lancashire side in the Championship' we have lost in two seasons to only two Yorky sides and one of them was Leeds.

Most of us Leythers are totally unbiased' so we are used to it and never say anything.
