I Agree he needs signing up if he's kept fit when his ban has finished Mick's a dangerous attacking player & very versitile playing 6, 7, 9, 13 brilliantly

I'm not saying he should be signed up. Personally I wouldn't touch him now because the game has moved on and it's a young hungry mans game. What I was saying is that if he hadn't been banned he would have been a major player in this seasons team. A drug free fit Mick Govin at 13 this year and we would have won something. He would have complemented the rest of the team.

TV BOY you do realise Govin only turned 27 a few month back so he'd sign for us when just turning 28 that's a prime age IMO

Yes I do and I have just read on another thread that he may have been in training with the squad for some time. If the club have done to Mick what the Pies did to Gareth Hock then maybe he could come back like Hocky and do a good job but if he has been away all this time then no I wouldn't have him back.

if he has been training with the club i hope the rfl know about it,cos i thought you was banned from all forms of rl til the ban was over.

My view is why should Govin not be allowed to keep fit by training with other RL players.

I honestly do not think non sporting performance enhancing drugs taken by an adult should have anything to do with any sporting body.

And before anyone says it is to discourage children from drinking smoking etc etc'they will do anyway if they want to once they reach a particular age.

I'm sure your near enough right there JC , but I think if he passes whatever tests and hoops Sport UK have set for him to jump through he can start training with us again around Xmas time .

A bit unfair some mentiionlng Mick Govin in the same breath as that drug cheat Hock .

Hock - deliberately took performance enhancing drugs to improve his muscle bulk , take a look at him tonight on't telly at Wiggin he's still showing the benefits of his time as a deliberate drug cheat and IMO shouldn't be allowed anywhere near the national team .

Govin - made a poor judgement call and took a recreational drug with his mates , take a look round Wiggin tonight at all the yoofs of Mick's age who have been shovelling coke up their nose and you'll find it's about 75 % .

Unfair that they both carry the penalty but only one of them has come out of it better off .

Gareth Hock was done for taking coke in 2009. Where is the difference. I think you are getting Hocky mixed up with someone else.

Just to clear up any possible confusion. When I said on another thread that Govin had been invited to train with Leigh again, a while back, I meant Leigh have invited him back already, but with a view to training with the club in the future. ie when he is allowed to and the ban is done and dusted etc. Hope this makes sense.

I think the RFL allowed Hock to train with the Wigan squad 6 or 8 months before his ban was up.
