Whistling Wren? Where's the naval connection there?

- my dad would have been a regular Ex Navy use to say it was 'Up with the Lark and to bed with a Wren'

We have a Marstons in Birchwood called the Peacock.

(I'm the same with the word 'brewery' - it comes out as bwuwery. LOL

I reckon the person who named it had a similar problem with their 'F's' and 'N's'. Given the proximity to a sports stadium and Leythers' propensity for criticising poor unfortunate refs like Mr Stokes, the original intention was obviously to name it 'The Whistling =#FF0000REF'!

Been the the Marston's pub at Birchwood, ales good in there. LSV had better get their thinking caps on, because no one will be supping there anymore.

Have Marstons not dropped the proverbial here by not linking the pub in with the club by naming it something like 'The Sir Tommy Sale' or 'The James Hilton' or something like that?

The Chat Moss is a Marston's.

It will enhance the approach to the LSV and these days it would be more appropriate to call these type of 'pubs' restaraunts. They are usually family type establishments.

Hardly replaces all those that have closed and all the earnings that have been lost by their demise.

I for one welcome new enterprise and investment in the area - plus I like a pint or two



Anyone know if this company sell 'real ale' along side of 'not so real' ale??
